When is HDTV REALLY coming?

Leprkon, do you have to have a HDTV receiver to integrate with the Terk TV-4? I have the 50" Sony LCD with built-in turner, subscribed witth DirectTV and wonder if I have to buy the HD Receiver to get the OTA antenna to work.

You shouldn't. As long as the dish and the antenna have different inputs, you should be able to connect right up, then select the right input to see the OTA HD.

Since I only watch the Food Network and Cartoon Network, I'm guessing it'll be a long wait for HD.

LOL, I just spit beer reading that quote. But man, those cartoon channels have the best pictures with standard cable!

Unfortunately I don't have comcast in my area However, I do see that I am 55 miles away from the HD signal...which is a LOT. But I'm wondering if the $99 radio shack antenna will get HD for me...it says 140 miles...hmm....I wish I could put it in my attic to keep people from seeing the thing but I don't know if it is possible for me to still get reception with it in the attic.

I have this radio shack antenna mounted in my attic and it works great. A friend of mine installed the same antenna in his attic and he's 50 miles from the transmitter antenna, he picks up all local HD. Both of us have concrete tile roofs.

Here in Wisconsin, I can receive my local channels over my dish (Dish Network). I was told (I do not know if it is true) that if the local channel broadcasts in HD the dish (receiver) will automatically switch to the HD feed, if it is an HD receiver. I was kind of sceptical on this, and still am. I have not been able to verify it as I have not purchased a HD set yet. I am waiting for the LCD's to come down in price.

I was tipped by an industry insider that LCD and plasma will be decreasing greatly in price over the next year and a half. Especially in larger sizes.
