I think I'd avoid in-ceiling speakers for surrounds. My choice would be to scoot the couch forward a few inches then put the side surrounds on the tables to the left and right of the couch. Not the best, but still better than in-ceiling (IMO).

If I was to go box speaks, I'd hang em on the cieling and fire them down. If he puts the speakers on the table, where does the Chia pet and beer fridge go? Sheez.
