If I would own your speakers I would power them with nothing less than a nice vintage Threshold with 250 watts per channel. You want to open them up, that amp will give them MB's what they deserve. I know all amps sounds the same, they just don't sound the same to me. My hearing is going bad, no doubt.

If I do decide to go active, I believe I will just add a DVC sub for the other amp.

The possibilities are endless. Just pure fun at this point.

Ahh you are passive bi-amping. I misunderstood. I honestly don't think you would hear a sonic benefit from it. Try it and see is the best thing to do.

I tried it once with mine and I could not tell any difference.
Been out to a crawfish boil with my wife, and had time to think.

Tried it with what?

You do understand that this is two very powerful amps, right?

If I get a pair of KEF 207/2 speakers (4 ohms nominal, 3 ohms minimal), I'm going to TRI-AMP the heck out of them with 600 Watts per channel into 4 ohms using Mark Levinson ---- I mean Lexicon ----- I mean ATI amps.:D

Tried it recently with my Monitor 7's and four A-500's Bridged mono, and my RXV 2600. I Tried it in the past with my Monitor 7's and an Adcom HT amp, Tried it way in the past with some Dynaudio towers I built and Two NAD 2200's, Tried it in the past with some, Vifa towers I built and Two Adcom GFA 555 II's, Tried it with Some Focal towers my buddy built and a Rotel Multi-channel amp. Been there, done that. No benefit sonically in my opinion to passively bi-amp especially with a big amp. It might make a little more sense with a small amp; maybe!

Been doing this stuff a long time dude:)

How much are those ATI amps? They look nice.

Yes, but that answer is not only better for me, it's better for any member reading the thread.;)

Plus, those who don't know your experience, can get a good idea with that reply. So, it's better for you as well.:)

Been doing it for over 25 years myself, but mostly low/mid-fi 2-channel mixed systems. Nothing technical.(internal) Never had speakers with bi-amp capability until my current HT I built in '03.

Since my current 2-channel rig(using the same model speakers as my HT) worked-out so good with one Denon 2200, and I ran across another 2200, just getting started with changing the system a bit.

As mentioned, I may try an active x-over using the new amp to power a DVC sub. Lots of things to try.

I am very, very jealous of the crawdaddy boil though. No cajun places to eat in NH that I know of.

Alex, any good cajun places to eat at in Boston?

Active x-over recommendations for adding a passive sub?

I don't know of one. The 3000 series will do 475@4ohm.
They are under-specified.

As you may know, the ATI amps are the same ones as the Lexicon, JBL, Outlaw Audio, Earthquake, among others. I've heard some Mark Levinson amps are also ATI amps on the inside, which makes sense because Mark Levinson is the same company as Lexicon and JBL.

Here is the HTM review for the Earthquake 300WPC amp, which is the same as the ATI 300WPC amp:

http://www.hometheater.com/content/earthquake-cin233nova-grande-seven-channel-amplifier-ht-labs-measures

Into 4 ohms, the amplifier reaches 1% distortion at 564.7 watts
