Small HSU Sub and AA speakers. Looks like some done their homework. Thumbs up ! Great little system. Make sure to set correct crossover settings on receiver and do the "sub crawl". hint - look in AH main site sub setup advice.

Good work! You have chosen... wisely. :D

Kick back and enjoy for a few weeks and then please come back and tell us what you think. ;)
So far I am definitely noticing a better transition of sound most likely due to the timbre matching. For regular TV voice like a news channel I feel like I get a little bit of reverb or something possible because of the ported design and less than optimal speaker placement (*to close to walls, no sound treatments, etc., etc.)

I plugged the ports on the L/C/R speakers with some 2" foam collars I had laying around. So far I am liking them better with the ports plugged for general TV.

Subwoofer crossover is set at 80 Hz through the receiver. All speakers set/tuned? to 75 dB using YPAO and a Radio Shack SPL meter. Adjusted center channel +2 dB.

I will check back later with some final thoughts after they get broke in a little.

Yeh, I gave him a tip, too. Told him to lose the tux, find somebody with a banjo, somebody with a guitar and somebody with a mandolin, and play some real music! :D
:) made me laugh

The reply that really got me looking in the right direction. \/
I would start by changing out the center to one that matches your bookshelfs, then I would get a better sub.... Polk around the forum a little there is tons of info here, but heres some for free..

#1- front sound stage should be matching set, fronts, and center from the same brand and series, this will give you matching timbre...

#2- Towers in a home theater aren't needed in most systems, towers are made large for their lower end response, but as a trade off you also get some extra cabinet res {not a good thing}, and larger cost... Since in home theaters your avr {receiver} crosses the frequencies so the fronts do not get freqs under say 80hz instead sending them to the subwoofer there is no reason for the larger cabinets...

#3 the most important part of an HT system is the subwoofer, don't skimp in this area...
I vote hsu, as far as port vs sealed, you can always turn the gain down for less low end output, but they only go so far up...
And as far as the looks, I prefer hsu's finish vs the svs vinyl sticker... All great options we all have our preferences I own both brands and prefer hsu...
I do like the HSU finish better than the vinyl look of the speakers.

Smart choice - good decision on sub and speakers.
The AA speakers are real nice - one of the best deals around.
Thanks. It would have never happened that way without this site and you nice people.
