Not something "new" per se... but I was able to find a service technician who was willing to take a look at my old Musical Fidelity A308 Integrated. He went over it, cleaned it up and hit it with the load tester to confirm everything was still operating correctly. Not sure what set off the issues I had run into very occassionally before then, but it got a clean bill of health.
Now that it's passed its check-up, it's getting a new lease on life in an active-use system. I spent part of the day doing my best to compare it (in an HT bypass/power amp mode) vs my Schitt Vidar in the office/bedroom system. I do believe it sounds a touch cleaner, more refined and detailed than the Schitt (which it should based on price). So it's taking up residence for now there powering my Lumina II Amators.
(Not my actual A308, but good enough instead of trying to take a decent pic)
The system is:
PC
Yamaha CD-C600 carosel CD player
Topping D70 Pro Sabre
Anthem AVM 50V (Not really needed but I prefer the volume control, sleep, etc functions being available and it's doing an analog passthrough from the Topping when using that)
Musical Fidelity A308 Integrated (power amp mode)
Sonus Faber Lumina II Amators bookshelves
REL T-Zero sub
The same service tech was also able to get my two old REL T1 subs working again (they had failed some time ago). So now I have a couple extra base enhancers I'm not sure what to do with yet too.
