What is a high current receiver?

Switch the room each receiver is in and perform the test again or better yet listen to both back to back in the same room. Two rooms that might seem nearly identical aren't identical enough to be considered for a proper comparison. The room makes so much difference in sound, that unless you are comparing components in the same room, the results are virtually useless.

With any kind of luck that midrange doesn't leak on the floor and damage anything. ;)
The leakage just helps smooth out the extended soundstage I get with my braided silver power cords.......sheesh, I gotta walk you guys through this stuff?!

I can see how that would work. The braided silver usually has a lot of pace and rhythm with a chocolaty finish. Oh, wait a minute. I'm confusing two products. Yeah. I guess you'll have to walk us through it.

Well, we all know how cable elevators keep the earth's electromagnetic field from affecting the speaker cable's electron flow, right??? (cable 101)
Which is why I use Canare with QuadStar technology for speaker cabling.
After cryoing these for a week in my freezer, I burn them in for over 100 hours before they are ready for the big rig. Now, couple this with the Silver braided power cords that recieve the same treatment and the logical conclusion is improved midbass and a chocolate leak that can only improve the soundstage over all spectrums my golden ears can detect....

Seriously, I have no life.

Oh, stop teasing me;):D

Here's my explanation:

A high current amp is one with a very robust power supply. It will have a large transformer, large capacitors capable of storing the juice to drive those 4 ohm loads (or less), and large transistors/output stages with large heat sinks to dissipate heat effectively. Generally, this set up is found in stand alone amplifiers because receivers are trying to pack all the other electronics in too, so, for the most part, you don't see true "high current" receivers. Although some of the high end ones are very capable performers, but you wont see it in low end to mid range receivers.

Except for NAD.. The only receiver company I know of that does not warn people not to connect nominal 4 ohm speakers.

The last lower budget receiver I saw with high current capabilities (as defined by croseiv) was the Onkyo TX-SR805. Talk about a powerful receiver.

Where's the phase angle effect between voltage and current? Speakers are not a purely resistive load by any mean.
Sorry but I can't answer question on topics that I'm just getting introduced to. I linked the article thinking that it had info that the OP could use to further his understanding as I am trying to do.
