Do you have a bluray player? I don't remember, and don't see one in your sig. If and when you do, watch How The West Was Won. If you only have DVD capability, just wait. The remaster makes all the difference, and IIRC the DVD used the same master as for the VHS anyways. It's the biggest leap in improvement from any DVD to BD that I know of perhaps. Although Monsters Inc looks pretty dramatic too. Pale Rider has excellent PQ as well. I think the key is "old" westerns... part of attraction to the genre was the way they were shot, and the culture that existed around them. It seems to me that it would be hard to modernize. Sometimes a classic should remain a classic. Why doesn't anybody still produce "disco" albums. The genre adapted and developed to attract modern culture. I'd say just enjoy the old ones.

It was different than I expected, but it was definitely worth watching. As I mentioned in the thread, it isn't an action movie though. Maybe I have to revisit Unforgiven but it just felt drawn out and over done.

Lonesome Dove...old but still awesome. Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid is a must-have classic in my book, along with Silverado, Quigley Down Under, and many others of worth.

There is a lot of Clint pausing and making facial expressions but that's part of what makes him great. The last part of the movie though...just very bad a$$! It makes the whole film.

It's a genera less in vogue than at some points in the past, but it's not quite dead. Find me a (A-B grade) fantasy film before HarryPotter and LotR hit theaters. I think the last one before those was Conan and Dragon Slayer.
