What did you think was good sound?

I've had a case of upgrade-itis of my PC sound system lately. I built some Madisound RB's for my computer, and parts are on order for a DIY sub as well as a Behringer CX2310 to control it all. Today I was just thinking that years ago my idea of the ultimate PC sound system was a Klipsch promedia setup. Oh how things change :D Any reformed Bose owners out there :p

I'm still loving my Klipsh Promedia speakers, they are all I need for my computer since now if I really want to rock out I just stream music to one of my real systems.

I loved my Promedias for nearly 2.5 years. I decided to go with a reciever/bookshelf setup otherwise I would still be using them.

I wasn't trying to bag on the Promedias, maybe I shouldn't have lumped them in with Bose products ;)

Agreed. How cruel and mean you are for putting down a product that way.:p About a year ago I though Bose was great then I did some reading and was shocked. I'm so glad this place is around. :D

I used to think my boom box was pretty good when I was in high school, but now I have one in the garage and I think about how crappy it sounds for a minute, then I forget about it while I am working on the car because I have music in the background. I can hear my stereo easily outside (across the street  ) but then it is TOO loud inside :D

I used to love my creative labs 2500.

But a lot has changed in a year. I now spend more on a speaker than all my previous systems together.

And it's all your fault :D

Seriously, I have no life.
On my desk, I just have the Altec computer speakers that came with the package but when I ran my coax, and Cat5e cabling, I included 4 audio/mic cables that I can use for record/playback with the desktop computer. I don't use that for as much as I did before, but if I want to use my laptop to play iTunes, I just plug the 1/8" stereo plug into the keystone insert in the wall plate and switch to the correct input on the amp. That doesn't happen often though, because I have a ReQuest server but it's nice to be able to use it if I sell the server or it goes down for any reason (which it hasn't in the 2 years I have had it). I also have lines from the system to the basement and garage stereos, so I can set the server to Random/Continuous and listen to it anywhere.

It's all a far cry from my first system.
