What about Paradigm ADP-590's?

I run a 5.1 home theater configuration with a Velodyne DD15 Sub, Paradigm Studio 100's in front, a Paradigm CC-590 center, DefTech BP10 surrounds, and a Denon AVR 4308.

I am thinking about replacing the DefTech BP10 surrounds (formerly my front speakers) with something more well suited for surround speaker application. The the BP10's are too close to where we sit and tend to be too loud or non existent if I lower the volume on them. But this would be the case with any floor standing surround speaker in my HTR room layout. Yes, I have tried different locations and angles.

Wall mounted Paradigm ADP-590's come to mind as a potential solution. They would be mounted above and behind where we sit. Does anyone here have experience with ADP-590's in a rear wall mounted surround application? If so, what is your opinion about these speakers and how they perform?

I've heard the ADP3s which are very similar. They really make special effects difficult to localize. One of my favorite surround speakers, I prefer these to direct firing surrounds.

Those should work fine in a 5.1 setup. However, the THX specification for 7.1 is monopoles for the rear surrounds, and di/bipoles for the side surrounds. Keep that in mind when you upgrade to 7.1

How do you have the BPs positioned? Since they're located behind you, I'd try them 7'-8' apart facing each other.

Maybe you could give us an idea of your room layout... make up a drawing or take some pics

Ultimately I find the ADP's to be better for the side surrounds and direct radiating in the rear... Sounds like you are running a 5.1 scenario.

In my small bedroom, I had direct radiating on my sides and with them being so close I didn't like how direct they were, and they seemed to be overwhelming like you have suggested.
