Wanted: Dedicated Room

Saw this setup on another forum, amazing equipment that I'm sure sounds great but I think it's a great injustice not to have it in a properly treated room.

There is a piece of carpet in front of the speakers.
The one speaker is so close to the doorway, I'd be afraid my wife....I mean, someone would scratch it.

I think you're right about that!

If you're gonna spend that much money on a home theater system, you should be able to afford a decent rug .

It's looking more, and more like a temporary set up.

Like Audio GTG, a demo or something.
Sure is nice stuff though.

I could probably pay off my house with the money he spent on that system. One could only assume that if you have that much money invested in the equipment you could dump at least 1/4 of it into the room if not a dedicated listening space.

I agree Matt34. I love those BW speakers. I would never spend that much, even if I had the $ to spare, because of the acoustics in my home. And I've bought a lot of treatments already. And its presently in an assymetrical setup.

If that was me, I wouldn't have got that horizontal center. Throw the flat panel up higher, on the wall. Get rid of all that stuff, AV stand in between that must be getting in the way of stereo reproduction. Buy a component rack, put it off to the side, back, anywhere else. Id either do phantom, or get another tower for the center channel, depending on the room dimensions, and how many viewers there are spread out.

If there is neck strain from higher tv mounting, get a recliner. IMO, silly to spend that much without giving that equipment its best chance to perform.

Have always liked McIntosh AMPs!

However, I agree for the equpment expense, the presentation and set-up needs to be better. treatments, rack , presentation. Still very nice HT

For 1/4 the price of all that gear he could of built a killer HT roomand still had enough to get most of that gear....

Yeah.. but... I'd still prefer the identical tower, same plane, perfectly matched, and perhaps even for less cost? The vertical cabinet can only be a boon too, right? I mean given that its a horizontal, BW makes some of the best, but the horizontal will not be a superior performer to the tower, AFAIK....

If one was stuck with absolutely having to use horizontal, sure. I would in my HT, since I dont have an AT screen. Someone with a huge RPTV might have to as well. In this case, its pretty easy to accommodate, IMO.

That equipment is very much the direction I want to go in the next time around. I've been yapping about B&W 800's and Mac for awhile now... but I'd never spend that kind of cash without the room of rooms to put it all in... something like this:

There are some interesting thoughts between Level 1, 2, and 3 over at AVS. The gear that Rive$ sells is very expensive, particularly the EQ stuff. Makes the 800s look cheap!

I wasn't so much saying that I'd get a level 3 room from them, but more that I like the look and setup of that room. It's an actual room you can use more than say just a dedicated "theater" that will likely only be used for movies. I look at that room and I think it's more of a media room as opposed to ht... if that makes sense.

I just thought it was funny that the pic had the very equipment I've been babbling about for some time.

btw... how much would a level 3 treatment like that cost?
