Hmmmm... Hadn't heard about this. Interesting news. It is good that at the moment they will operate independently, but I figure at some point Walmart may be injecting all the Vizio TVs with their special kind of sales tactics, similar to how Amazon works with FireTV.

It's kind of the nature of the beast at this point I suppose. Wish more manufacturers would stick with Roku OS. But, it's all just getting more and more bloated for consumers.

I don't know that it will really drive sales though. Similar to streaming where Walmart tried to jump on the bandwagon late and failed, I hope they don't mess around with this one.

As long as they leave them alone technology wise, even if they use it to do their own branding/advertising, it should be OK.

Too bad the new Vizio TVs aren't that good these days at least from the reviews I've been seeing. I still love my Vizio 65 QLED with great colors and inky blacks from 2021.

With our TV's, Go into Settings....etc., and you can turn off that gathering information data and suggestion info to look at. Or "Gathering Information."

You keep believing that. All of your info has already been gleaned. Used and sold off multiple times. Targeted ads are at your doorstep and in your face. Your personal information is out there and there is absolutely nothing you can do about it.

When my Vizio M70-F3 failed after 4.5 years, Vizio went on to my do not buy list, as that was my second Vizio that failed. I replaced it with a Sony Bravia XR75X90CL. The Sony is more expensive to buy, but I expect it to last longer, so the price per year could wind up less than Vizio.

In addition, the Sony initial setup asks if you just want to use it as a display, and bypasses all the network stuff.

I haven't heard of Vizio in a looooooong time. We had one, HD, way back, and did not fail.
I wouldn't buy one today, as I question their quality. Too much of a budget TV.

You got more out of yours than I did. Mine died after 2 years. Well, it works, but the panel is purple, so I say it died.

I left out the detail that my last Vizio also had a failure under warranty and needed a board replaced.

Seems like they started to have some issues, which is why they were able to be purchased by someone not in the industry.
