Reading through some forums and seeing some units in store, some recievers volumes, even in the Pioneer range are like -10bd-20db and so on, where as my Pioneer vsx519 is around 20(can hear sound) to 50(loud) and above. Is mine setup incorrectly ?

Don't worry, the markings are irrelevant.

There are absolute and relative readings. The 519 uses the absolute system. Some receivers have the capability to use either type and some just use the relative.
