Seriously, I have no life.
What should a poor Dawg use for protection on his computer. I have always used Norton but was wondering if there is something as good/better at less cost. It is time to renew.
I had found that anything Norton did was a burden on the computer where it was installed, and found out about AntiVir. It's freeware, they co regular updates and it works in real time so you get warnings if a site or program has a problem.

If you type AntiVir in the search bar, you'll probably be directed to CNet, and the appropriate download page. It works. You may want to search for a Norton removal tool because it tends to be hard to remove, completely.

Now my computer is so slow I can't even use it. It is impossible to surf the internet via my PS3 at this point which I have always done in the past. What can I do?

Someone jump in here before I tear up this whole mess. I am backing up files onto an external hard drive and planning on wiping out the whole thing and then reinstalling with the CDs.

Ummmm...how do I wipe out everything? Can I hurt anything?

Basically, save the files you need, (music, pictues, office files) and to make your life a little easier, download drivermax to save all your drivers, DriverMax and then reistall Windows, you will reformat your harddrive and get a new start, really livened up my 4 year old laptop.

Yep. Make certain that everything you want to save is in fact backed up before you insert those discs.

I don't run A/V on my PC's (I run an online scan once in a while) but if I did I would use nothing other than NOD32. It is the most lightweight and effective antivirus program I have come across.

I saved everything onto an external hard drive and transfered back what I need. Computer is 10x faster now but my Denon can't find my music even though it is back in WMP11. It finds my CPU but says "empty" when I pull up music.

Thoughts?

It's like I am just talking to myself...

Strange, my AVR will not play any of the music I transfered over. Re-Rip the CDs and it finds them and plays without issue. What a hassle to reload all of these.

What Denon do you have? And what system does it use to access music from your computer?

I never figured it out so I reloaded all my music. Kind of sucked but I have music again.
