VG+ with Zero Spindle Trails

I am a fan of Elton John abums up to the mid-70's. I only had Honky Chateau, which I have enjoyed since aroud 1974. That is a terrific album. Today, Tumbleweed Connection arrived. It was described as VG+/VG. Could be the most accurate description of a record ever. No indication of it ever being played. There is a very light hairline and that is it. Cover has a some dude's name on it. Otherwise it'd also be vg+. That seller knows how to describe used records. I have Goodbye Yellow Brick Road coming hopefully soon. I might want to play "Funeral for a Freind" at @TLS Guy 's place because who in the heck wouldn't!? Such a fabulous song.

I just got "Madman Across the Water" today. Described as VG+/VG+. Again, not one spindle trail and super nice. For used records, I always look at the labels for that tell-tale. Sometimes you see a very clean record with 3 or 4 trails on side one and 10 or 12 on side two. You know what that is? That is a guy who put the record on, likely intending to play it completely and got distracted so he didn't always make it to side 2. I have clear discernment here fellas!
Anyways, two great ones in a row! Hoping Goodbye Yellow Brick Road is as good! That seller did inform me of a mystery additional LP he put in the package. It only just shipped today, so I won't see it till next week.

Can't say I've heard of spindle trails before. This is from not exactly hitting the spindle center when putting the record on and sliding across the label? Sounds more like just not played all that many times :)

Yeah. It is only one tell-tale I use to judge the condition of an LP. Certainly not the whole truth and nothing but the truth. Some people might eye up the spindle-to-hole better than others, no doubt.

I've never bought used vinyl (inherited some, tho) and would generally just look at the condition of the recorded surface as a visual test, but playing it would be more informative....

Certainly is. I bought a Derek and the Dominoes "Layla..." that looked real clean but must have been played on something like this.

I did not keep that Derek and the Dominoes LP. I have no interest in having poor condition records in my collection. I traded up for a "Nilsson Schmilsson". Has Put the Lime in the Coconut, "Without You" (written by Badfinger) and "Jump into the Fire". Jump into the Fire would also be great to hear on Mark's system.
