so what's an air fryer?
.....one of them, is that one by Sunn that's a foot square cube that kicks I think it's three ten inch woofers, and has like 2500 watts onboard....they just "fry" the air with the sub tones....a little from the rear of the room could be good though.....

mule,
on the sunfire website, the signature sub is their top of the line subwoofer.

approx. one cubic foot box (13"all dimensions), one 12" active woofer; one 12" passive woofer and 2700 watts of power! (with eq mic)

I say little room gain as the subwoofers are beside the TV stand, Not a wall.

This will help the bass from being boomy, although there will still be some THD left over.

if something is quoted as -10db 16hz ... is that the same as:

+/-5db at 16hz-xxxhz
or
+/-10db at 16hz-xxxhz

so, looking at a chart for the -10db point ... do I look at the line at -20db from the highest point or just -10db?

-10dB at 16Hz is good, but not great. What is the -3dB of the Velodyne? If the -3dB of the Velodyne is around 20Hz then the Velo is probably a better performer (unless it has a very steep roll-off below 20Hz).

The 16Hz would only be felt if you had the sub turned up very loud. But I have heard good things about the Yammy. For me though, I just like Velodyne.

All Velodyne subwoofer are **Hz at -3dB IN ROOM.

The CHT-R is -3dB @ 25Hz.

They use a subsonic filter at 24hz with that subwoofer also.

Yamaha Subwoofers

I know I am five years late to bring up an old post, but I just wanted to pitch in my two cents. I have an all Yamaha home theater set up. I first started with the YST-SW800 in my 5.1 set up. When I upgraded to the 7.2 set up, I purchased two YST-SW1500. I set them up just as the owners manual recommended. One in the front left and the other in the front right corner area of the room next to the front left and right channels. Since I still have the YST-SW800, I decided to move it to the rear center wall and used a Monster/THX Y-split adapter to give it a signal. No sure what the other brand subwoofer sounds like, but running three top of the line Yamaha subwoofers is pretty hard to beat, and it sounds really, really nice. Always puts a smile on my face, but when I get the electric bill...well thats a different story. I am hoping to find one more YST-SW800 or two more 1500 so I can go with a 9.4 set up. Here's to good hunting because they have disconntinued both line of subwoofers.
