Vapex vs Elite fixed frame projector screens

I am looking to purchase a new screen to go with my Epson 8350 projector and was looking at the Vapex and Elite fixed frame screens and was wondering if any forum members with experience with either of these companies screens could provide some feedback.

I am looking at a 120" screen size and trying to limit my expenditure. A little late for Christmas deals, but wondering if anyone knows of any good deals currently on projector screens.

Thanks

I'm guessing the Stewart model is probably 2-3 times the price of the two listed. That would be 'cheap' for Stewart, but far more than an entry level screen costs.

I've yet to see the VAPEX screens myself, but I did work with the Elite 120" Sable screen:
Amazon.com : Elite Screens ER120WH1 SableFrame Fixed Projection Screen (120" Diag. 16:9 Ratio 59"Hx104.7"W) : Presentation Projection Screens : Electronics

I was pretty happy with the design, but the fact that the main rails were in two pieces for the top and bottom bugged me. I have used Focupix screens in the past, and they use a single header and footer rail, which I think makes a much better product overall. If Elite had given me the same thing, I think I would have liked their product more, but as it stands, I like the Focupix more, and I think VAPEX screens are darn near identical in build quality and design, so I would pick them over the cheapest Elite.

If the Elite you are looking at uses a single piece top and bottom bar, then I would probably pick the Elite over the VAPEX, if the VAPEX build quality is identical to Focupix. But, as I said, I haven't seen the VAPEX model personally yet.

BMXTRIX, how does Carada compare with Elite, VAPEX and Focupix?

The build quality of Carada is significantly better than Focupix and Elite. I have not touched VAPEX yet so I can't compare them. They do a better job with packaging, use a larger roll to protect the screen material, the screen material is very thick and seems to be a better material, the frame is more robust and the surround fabric is of higher quality. The attachment method (snaps) are extremely solid and do a great job of providing even tension across the screen surface without any real chance for error during assembly.

I have worked with Stewart screens and to me the Carada feels far more like a good Stewart screen in terms of build quality, compared to the others. The final projected image looks pretty solid across all the screens though so on more of a budget, I certainly don't have any issues recommending the lesser expensive brands. If you need an odd size or custom ratio, that's one area where Carada can deliver and the others can't.
