Vacation - finally!

After being too busy this spring & summer (and not around AH much), I've finally got a vacation coming up next week. My wife & I are driving north to spend a week & a half in Lake Placid, NY and visit some old friends in Burlington, VT. Looking forward to some R&R with some cooler weather.

I've been far too busy writing a chapter in a book that will be coming out maybe in November. The book is the 5th edition of Cancer Chemotherapy and Biotherapy: Principles and Practice. (The link is the old 4th edition). I expect all my friends to order a copy !! The final version of the text is with the editors and I am done with it - finally.

My wife has also been far too busy the past year. She was nursing and fussing over her 86 year-old mom who was in declining health :(. She had several small strokes, could no longer talk or stand up, and was growing progressively weaker as the year went by. She finally passed away last week with congestive heart failure. My wife was saddened, but relieved because seeing her mom go downhill like that was no picnic. Bless her heart, my wife told me just a few days before her mom died, that under no circumstances should I cancel our vacation plans. Her devotion to her dying mom is admirable and deserves some kind of award or recognition.

Well, we're off next Monday. I hope the weather up there will be nice.

I understand that Amazon takes advance orders for the book :D.

...Stay outa them there woods. ;)
I was planning on spending some time canoeing. I'd hope there is a big difference between the back woods in the Adirondacks in upstate NY and them back woods of Georgia , but if I hear any banjos I'll turn back right away .
