My RX-V1800 doesn't have Dynamic EQ :( But when I played the pod emerege scene from WOTW my ultra didn't have any problems keeping up.

Yep, my subs where keeping up but it was down-right nasty. I was laughing but my wife said "that is just ridiculous".

I wanna hear that on Warps new sub setup, I think his house might implode if he turns it up to much. I'm just glad some women are ok with excessive bass, I know plenty of females who don't like loud movies, or loud bass.

Warp said that the subs didn't quite do it for him so he purchased some real pods, aliens and a couple of Iron Man suits...

We ran through some good material last night, just for kicks even though I don't have them EQ'd, which will be tonight and I have the sub output on my D2v turned down about 9db now after these new boxes and additional power was added..... It was downright wicked...

The effortless accuracy of these subs is just awesome...

Watching Jurassic Park, and the Dino roars and stomping was off the hook !!!! she looked at me a few times during the movie just laughing and smiling.... def loving them...

Then she asked me - now that these are in and done, what are you going to upgrade next !!!! I laughed... Not sure what I could upgrade....

Watched it last night at -20 with Dynamic EQ on and it was pretty much out of control. At reference level, I'm not sure my body, my house or my subs could handle it.

Do you guys turn off Dynamic EQ when playing close to reference levels or do you trust that it mellows as the volume goes up and shouldn't be adding anything at reference?

As for the dynamic eq, I think it's called dynamic range control (DRC) in my SC-27. I have it turned off. I've gone up to -12.5 dB from reference on WOTW hitting 112-113 dB when all of the action starts (subs are 3-4 dB hot). It's sick, really sick. I worry more about my mains failing than the Ultras. But it seems WOTW is much hotter than most mixes.

Considering surprising scenes, Valkyrie (bomb cellar scene) totally scared the poop out of me the first time I saw it. One of the bombs hit, and it's close to them , but quite hotly mixed (around 25-26 Hz). It was most impressive, but the pressure wave literally made my listening area flex and creak under the stress (DTS HD MA at -12.5 dB). I felt a decent puff of air come from the Ultras.

Seems like it is doing more at lower volume as far as I can tell.
The way I understand it is- it is progressive as the volume goes down and at reference, it should be adding nothing.

Have you (can you?) tried disabling it just to see if there's a large difference? I think I'd be inclined to give it a try just out of curiosity.

So I just changed to a 10hz setting and it sounds more like what I am used to. This may be my favorite setting even though I am sure I am cutting way down on output. It just seems way tighter and less ringing or overhang.

Maybe I am too familiar with sealed subs?

Ummm....not sure about that, I feel like I am hitting right at the limit of excursion but I'm just not sure. Maybe I should have some scotch and really test it out.
