Upgrade to Arendal 1723 2S?

I have a SVS SB-3000 at the moment and impressed with it for music. But most of my listening is movies and while its great, it still doesn't quite have the punch I really want.

I'm looking to upgrade but keeping the other half on board - who thought the SB3000 was too big and ugly - is not going to be easy.

The Arendal 1723 2S looked like an option. Its bigger but not absolutely massive. Also have a feeling other half will find it less ugly.

Size wise probably the most I can get away with. No real hope at the moment of dual subs or massive ported subs so they are out. Ported subs are just too massive!

I checked out the review and contacted Arendal support who said it'd be way better than my SB3000 - but they would say that! Review suggests similar 40+ hz but 3 to 4 db improvement at the lower end. Whether that would be audible I'm not sure.

Room size is 32 square metres.

Is the Arendal 1723 2S really going to sound noticeably different or is the SB3000 as good as I'm going to get given size limits?

I appreciate they have 60 day return but don't want to waste a lot of time and hassle for something that sounds almost the same.

I think you already get what kind of improvement you can expect to see. A bit more deep bass, and maybe less dostortion as you reach the output limits of the sub. I think it would be an upgrade but not a huge one.

I think you're right shady. I'm up against the laws of physics - only a much bigger subwoofer is going to get a much bigger upgrade. No getting round that.

I suspect the 1723 2S is only going to sound fractionally better and not worth the money for the difference.

I compared the Sb 3000 with the arendal 1723 1s and the arendal 1s is definitely stronger than the svs sb 3000. The shots in John Wick have such a strong punch. I tried to do that with the SVS, but it reached its limits and didn't stand a chance. The Arendal is hard and crisp but doesn't go quite as deep as the Svs. The depth of the SVS is more fun for films. The midbass punch of the Arendal is more fun. But I can 100% guarantee that the Arendal is the better subwoofer. I don't want to try 2s because I'm worried about my house I use the 1s in 20 square meters and it's actually almost too much for me. But you'll get used to it. When I test the arendal for an hour and then jump on the svs, it seems to me as if the svs is barely there. The Arendal also emphasizes small details much better. So if you are wondering if the 2s will give you a strength punch then I give you a double yes
