UK Defense Secretary warns Russia of its Vessel Yantar in North Sea and it is Being Shadowed by HMS Somerset.

A Russian vessel, the Yantar, is very close to UK territorial waters in the North Sea, and it it believed recently to have briefly entered them. The Yantar is a survey vessel believed to be mapping vital sea bed infrastructure. Navy planes have buzzed the vessel and the Russians have tried to blind pilots with Lasers. The UK has warned the Russians that if the Yantar proceeds any further south the Royal Navy will engage the Yantar.

The Russians are not happy and being bellicose.

Norway has said that there is increased submarine activities in the last two months and Britain and the US have been very active, along with NATO, in tracking.

Yes, and Putin has been making not such veiled threats that he wants a wider war in Europe. The worrying issue is that the Europeans are not at all well prepared for a ground war and I have always feared it would turn nuclear fast. The UK has pretty much said as much, and would probably be quick to fire the nukes on its polaris subs.

Yes, and Putin has been making not such veiled threats that he wants a wider war in Europe. I don't know why anyone would start a ground war- the slow speed makes them sitting ducks for aircraft and missiles- I have heard recent reports that Putin looks frail and one of his hands is weak- if he's trying to go out in a blaze of glory, it's time for him to go without any fanfare, if you know what I mean.
