Two Subs on Craigs...

The 1200 arrived! Setup was a breeze with the wireless kit. Did the c%rawl; the sub is in the corner adjacent to the seating area--I went back and forth between that location and the front corner by the right speaker and to my ears the bass seemed just a bit more articulate in the spot I chose. Ran Audyssey and was amused that it placed the distance of the sub at 27'--I understand why but it's funny and perhaps an indication of the subs output? I had the gain set at 50% and the subs internal crossover at max when I ran the setup procedure and Audyssey had the level set at -3.5. I couldn't resist and bumped it to -2.0. Here's something curious--Audyssey has my fronts crossed at 40hz, my center at 60hz and the surrounds at 90hz. I haven't played with those settings yet, and of course my ears are the final arbiters, but do you guys have any thoughts on that? I've always set all five speakers at 80hz when I bothered to put the old POS Sony into the chain. Anyway, I haven't done any serious listening yet, just a couple of tracks off Beck's new one and just now going to pop in T2 and hopefully hear some rumble! The Beck stuff does have some lovely deep bass synthesizer and my initial impression was very positive, the bass lines were definitely distinct and musical, with far more impact than with the B5s running full range by themselves, and of course far superior to my ears than with the Sony. Oh and BTW any further confusing input on LFE vs LFE+Main? Anyway, I'm very pleased with this addition to the system in this admittedly very short initial listening phase. The fit and finish of the sub is quite nice, too and sheesh it sure is a lot bigger than the puny Sony! Looking forward to the next several days and of course wondering if the 1200 will improve as it breaks in or if that's all just placebo. Thanks for reading and any further suggestions welcome!
