Hello to the forum, I have been trying to get into high end audio equipment for some years and after countless technics and pioneer amps i stumbled onto a couple of amplifiers that just looked differant. One is a B&K st 202 and the other is a ESS model 200. I purchased them pretty cheap i think:confused: But now i don't have a clue how or to what they should be connected to mind you i am accustomed to looking at the back of a pioneer amplifier. This stuff is new to me. I am looking for a nice sound quality as I play alot of records but will be looking to hook up to a plasma with surround sound to. Which of the 2 amps will best serve my purpose. As I have read good reviews on the B&K I haven't been able to find much info on the ESS. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks

The B&K is a 200w X 2 amp. It is basically a stero amp, not intended for HT. However, it is a good piece of equipment to have.

Don't know about the other unit.

I would recommend you purchase a HT receiver with the features and connections you need. I would also recommend you be sure the receiver has pre-outs for each channel. This way, you can use the B&K amp to power your main l/r speakers. This will take a load off of your receiver during 5.1/7.1 playback, and will also make your system perform very well in 2-channel uses.

There are tons of receivers to choose from. If you can list your needs, room size, speakers that will be used, and budget, you will get plenty of recommendations.;)
