I take most of my sentiment from some of my dear Canadians friends. With that being said, 'bag of donuts' may have been a bit melodramatic. It appeared to me he had become to 'Biden like', excessive spending, rising inflation, immigration issues, etc. While he had an initial superb approval rating years back, his armor after all those years was becoming tarnished, time to move on.
Again, here's hoping Carney has a successful outcome with Trump today !
While spending did ramp up under Trudeau, Canada still maintained the lowest budget deficit/GDP ratio in the G7, so that has been a bit overblown. Inflation was/is a common issue and not unique to any country, so I don't attach much - if any - blame to the Trudeau government. The main problem with immigration has been the housing shortage. I wouldn't have any issue with the immigration numbers over the past few years if housing supply had kept up the pace, but that wasn't the case. So, I do fault his government for not taking the housing problem seriously at an earlier point.
Here are some of the reasons I'm not a big Trudeau supporter:

While his predecessor, Conservative PM Harper pared defence spending to the bone, Trudeau failed to increase funding quickly enough. So, while he didn't create the situation, he didn't make a strong effort to resolve it.
There are other things that bother me about his performance in office, but I just wanted to make it clear that I don't give him a free pass. I say that, because there are areas that I believe he did well. While he won't go down in history as our best PM, he his far from the worst.
