Either way, its a slime ball approach and his shannagans will prevent from purchasing his product unless he sells the company.

I don't do AVS anymore since the ownership changed.

If I were the OP: Just take a video of the port chuffing, put it on YouTube and simply leave the information there for people that want to be in the know.

Smart people will figure it out and idiots will remain idiots.

He was also slamming the Monoprice subs in favor of his own products too (and, fwiw, its a pretty sure bet that the Monolith 15" would wreck the PSA 18"). But I think you are ignoring the subtext of his comments: panic. He knows the designer of these subs, so he knows that they are the real deal. Don't pay attention to his bogus analysis.

As for his fairness to Monoprice subs, I can only speak to the 10" and 12" at the moment, since those are the only ones I have used so far. Without giving too much away from an unpublished review, the Monoprice THX subs are really good. With respect to their competition, they have some real advantages. This review should be published within May, so you can see what their advantages are exactly by the end of the month, hopefully.

The measurements looks rather impressive to me:

Wished there were some measurements of the 10" as well.

Thanks for the heads up Phil. There isn't much in the way of measurements in that review, except for a frequency response sweep. A problem with the way that is graphed is that the X-axis window is way too large for a subwoofer. That window is not bad for a full range speaker, but there is no point in having the frequency axis go out all the way to 20 kHz in the amplitude response test of a subwoofer. A more sensible window would be 1 kHz or 500 Hz or something like that.

Anyway, you will get your wish for measurements for the 10"... soon..

Yeah, I thought the graph looked a bit odd. It looks like a brick wall@20 Hz. Sure wished the 10" had been included. It is quite obvious that new kids on the block is really making some waves-literally. The drivers look to be extremely well made. Can't wait for your review.

Cheers,

Phil
