This seems like a pretty random post!
I am a fan of my sealed PSA subs, I think they were undoubtedly the best value (among anything I have heard so far). However, I have to wonder, after Hsu dropped the price on the ULS-15 Mk2 and improved the performance if it would not have beat my XS15se for value (the PSA'a were $675/ea. shipped)!
However, I can't understand moderators banning anyone for posting factual information.
Why not provide more specifics so this is a more useful post:
1) Your statements indicates that PSA ported subs have excessive chuffing. Is that all PSA subs? If not, which sub exhibits excessive port chuffing and where did this info come from? Link? There are so many questions! Is this part of a test regimen like Data-Bass or one individuals experience? Was it a comparison against another sub? Are there others who have the same sub and do not experience chuffing? Is it possible that the problem sub is defective to cause port noise?
2) Is it fan-boys threatening to ban, or is it moderators threatening to ban? Or are they the same people? Do you have a thread you can link to exhibit this situation?

As your post stands, it just looks like an effort to vilify PSA/AVS without any supporting information for us to share your sentiment. Flesh it out for us!

AVS in general is very touchy. I bet infractions for just saying something negative about a product. The Oppo closing thread I got infractions for just saying something about what them.

AVS has some great info and I've been a member for a long time, but man is it difficult to sift through the posts sometimes. I haven't logged in in a very long time. Same goes for HT shack.

Lol, this all sounds strangely familiar to me. I can say with certitude that AVS forum is very protective of their advertisers, regardless of demonstrable facts or even their advertiser's behavior.

From what I am told, David Bott who originally ran AVS forum was a pretty decent guy, but he sold it to Vertical Scope, and it has changed for the worse. I visit the DIY section at AVSforum once in awhile, and the salacious thumbnail ads, and autoplay videos, and bloated adware make it tough to visit. I won't even visit it on my laptop computer because the CPU temperatures skyrocket so badly, and I wouldn't dare try to view the site on my phone, I only look at it from my desktop PC system. Vertical Scope is squeezing it for all the advertising revenue they can get, and it is an obnoxious forum to browse. Vertical Scope also bought Home Theater Shack at the same time as AVS forum, and now look at HTS, squeezed dry and then completely abandoned. I am told that HTS had comparable traffic to AVSforum at one point, but it is hard to believe that now.

Btw, to the OP, you are probably going to be permanently banned from AVS now, after your post here. I am sure a brand loyalist will see your post and snitch on you to an AVS mod, and that will be that. Welcome to Audioholics!

AVS, sorry, just a waste of time. Getting banned from there is probably a good thing.

I wasn't nice to cable 'phools and some of the 2ch fanatics and got booted a while back from avs. Politenessman's steel hanky kind of stuff due corporate interests I suppose.

HTShack is just dead, hardly any posting there whatsoever, and they're kinda touchy, too if you don't feel the same as some of the moderators from what I remember. Then again they're just a sister forum now to avs.

Oh that last link is precious. Just solid gold! The reason is I was permanently banned from AVS forum, the post that crossed the line for them, is when I explained that the PSA V1800 was bound to have mediocre deep bass performance because the enclosure was too small for that driver diameter for deep bass to be commensurate with higher frequency bands. But, of course, that will not come as a surprise to anyone who knows anything about subwoofer design. And PSA put in a higher excursion driver since then which would only have exacerbated the problem. This was long before the events in the discussion of that link.

Anyway, being banned worked out for the best, so I won't complain to much!

Do the AVS people sell PSA subs or are they affiliated with PSA?
Yes, they are an advertiser, and the mods there definitely have a strong partiality to PSA products, going so far as to allow PSA to bash their other advertisers products!

Thanks for the links!
I did not see any mention/threat of banning or other disciplinary action! Am I missing something? Do ban warnings come via PM?
Yes, you get warnings via pm.

Yes, ban warnings and infractions come as PMs. Also they come with the warning that you are not allowed to discuss infractions or temporary bans publicly or you get a permanent ban, which is why the OP is about to get smashed by the AVS perma-ban hammer.

I noticed the drama going on at AVS sub forums for a while now. Have visited a few times, but rarely post there. I stay more on the speaker forum. Things have been a bit slow over there lately though. The rules in the classifieds are heavily enforced. Learned that the hard way.:);):)

Cheers,

Phil

Links?
I have seen Tom complement other manufacturers subs, and would like to see the context, manner, and explanation he would give when bashing a product.
Sorry, I guess I'm in a mood to get specific, today!
As your statement is made, he could have said "AudioQuest cables are a rip off" which would raise nary an eyebrow here!

Seriously! That is so sad, it is funny in a pathetic way. It is a free country and I guess forum owners can make any rules they like, but gag orders seem a bit much!
Thanks to @gene for not being an asshole ... of that caliber!:p:D
