That's a great buy, and I'm sure the speakers themselves are as good or better than the Ventriloquist satellites. I can't comment on the Energy's - but Energy is a great mfg.

As for the sub, it's probably an average 10". Most well made 10" subs will run you $250 - $350. So again, that's a great deal on that system. I'd recommend though that you go demo that system before purchasing. Comments are just that, comments. Only your ears can judge if you really like the sound or not.

How big is your room?

My room is aprox. 25 x 30. I am considering purchacing the speakers today. I am a little worried since my current receiver is not compatable with standard sub woofer jacks. I think I will have to go out and purchace one. Any recomendations for A/V receivers to go along with the Polk speakers?

I have Polk RM7600 speakers. They mate well with an HK receiver. If you have already made up your mind about these speakers, then buy and enjoy them. Otherwise, I would suggest buying speakers with 5.25'' or larger drivers. The large drivers produce better mid/low sound.

Believe or not, I got the RM7600 set (without the sub) for $200 at Fry's as an open-box item. Anyway, I am sure you will enjoy the RM6800 speakers. They are beautiful to look at too.

Get on ebay, and go to Harman's store. Pick up a full warranty refurbished AVR. Try to get at least the 235 or 335 if budget allows. You can also get a nice deal on refurbished full warranty Onkyo's at Ubid.com (try to get the 600 series or higher if budget allows). Both receivers are a bit more tame, which go nicely with Polk speakers (some say they are a bit sibilant, but I like 'em a little more lively).

That is also another great deal.... but I think i'll still stick with the one there selling at frys for 399.99. Does anyone know how the subwoofer conncts to the A/V R? Is it by speaker wire or by the standard sub jack?

not to mention free shipping at circut city ...but your probably right about the 399 system for the extra hundred bucks...as far as the wiring on the back of the sub on the 6800 it takes wires ..if you look at it on circut citys website you can click the pic and get a 3d view allowing you to rotate the pic and se the entire speaker package all the way around

Do you think I should keep my current receiver when using the Polk speakers? Or do you think I should upgrade to a more current one? Since my current AVR is about 7+ yrs old, I think its time for a full upgrade........ what do you guys think?

That polk system is Garbage.

Look into the Energy or Hsu system.

I do not understand..... I was always told that Polk was "up there" with Klipsch and Definitive Technologies...... was I told wrong? How is that Polk system garbage? The specs seem to be better than the HSU and Energy Act6......... can you explain?

If I do not purchace these Polk speakers, I will probably be getting the Energy Act6 or the HSU Ventriloquist. My room is "aprox" 15 x 20.

The subwoofer that comes with the system is absolute CRAP. Your paying for Satellite speakers, which are no better then the Hsu or Energy systems.

The Hsu has the better subwoofer, but I would take the Energy Satellites over the Hsu's any day.
