Tower speaker help

The jbl center doesn't seem to be a good center speaker. So I guess I should look for a good cent and go from there. Any recommendations. But I can't find too much info on center speakers. Except w t/m w. Is supposed to be the way to go

I had the JBL 520 with my 590/580/530 set but did change the center out for the Infinity RC263 but the 520 wasn't horrible for my use. The 263 does have the edge in performance, tho. I haven't looked at the centers in the HDI range....

Looks like nfm sells that brand, I am gonna try and find a place to hear them. Kansas city don't have many options , from what I see

I have heard the paradigm founder 80f. I did like the sound of it. It was not making my ears tired

I heard the 100F in a showroom and they sounded excellent and looked beautiful in the dark black wood veneer. Unfortunately out of my price range at almost $5700 a pair. I Didn’t hear the 80F and stayed away from the 120s because of the powered woofers. I have had issues with powered speakers. The amps need repair and are costly And it can be hard to find Someone to do the work. 100F Well reviewed on this site by James Larson but not the center channel.

I watched the review they did with 100f and the center, it seems that not many centers have decent off axis response. I liked the 80f speakers, which is right at my budget max. Or I may just go with arendals, gonna look at their center and see what's happening there I guess. But I like paradigm because I went and listen to those and the equivalent martin logan,

Can't I just use a paradigm bookshelf from this series for my center, what's the cons of that idea?

If the bookshelf speaker is standing upright, it should do OK as a center speaker. Just don't lay it down horizontally. It will still be dynamically constrained relative to your tower speakers. That can be a problem at higher levels since the center channel has to carry so much weight, but a bookshelf center between those two towers will be a bottleneck for loud listening.

If this setup is mostly just going to be you, and you are doing most of your listening in the sweet spot between the speaker, you can just skip the center. The center is mostly there for the sake of listeners outside of points that don't have equal distance between the left and right speakers.

I have listened to the Paradigm 100F and Arendal 1723 S Towers, but not the 80F or non-S 1723 towers.

Do you have just one main listening spot?

Or is it a theater room or living room with multiple coaches and listening spots

If the first then the center channel for the HDI lineup is good any center channel will do or like @shadyJ said you can skip one and save some money

The HDMI towers are serious performers for the money but so are the Arendals the Arendal does have the better center channel but that's only if you have multiple seating positions

You also don't have to have an identical center channel. Unless you like aesthetics. That only matters IF all 3 of your front 3 are identical towers or bookshelves aligned vertical at the exact same height for each speaker

Correct I have seem to be even except the center. From what I am understanding, if you came to a different conclusion. I am all ears .

So do you have just one main couch that you and the family listening from? More in front of the TV or multiple couches with people sitting at different locations? Is it just you and your wife mainly listening directly in front of the TV?

Or the whole family and guests spread out in sitting that you want them all to hear good dialogue?
