Toshiba A2 audio / video better set-up

I got an A2 awhile ago from Walmart. Here's is how its currently setup.

A2 -> HDMI cable -> Yammy RXV-661 -> HDMI cable -> Sony 40VL130

would it be better if I do it this way:

A2 Video -> HDMI cable -> Sony HDTV
A2 Audio -> Optical / TOSLink cable -> Yammy Receiver

and why? what's the difference?

No, leave it the way you have it. Optical cannot pass the new audio formats and the 661 can decode them.

The receiver shouldn't touch the HDMI video, it will just pass it through, if you go Toslink, you won't get TrueHD or Dolby Digital +
