I just built a new home and want to setup a theater room.I have been looking around at all different speakers and just want to know what guys think about Axiom Epic 60-500. I find it a little tough to order something I can't go listen too.

There is a large list of Axiom owners who are more than willing to open their home for an audition. The list is available here:

Might seem a bit akward going to a strangers home you met on the internet to audition speakers but you will be able to listen to the speakers before buying in a (usually) properly setup system and talk to someone who actually owns them vs a salesman trying to make a buck.

OK, I guess I should answer your question/concerns. ;)

Axiom is a legit company that produces a quality product. I agree with Haoleb that you should try to do a local audition if you can.

If not, there are a couple of speakers you can lisen to that are very similar in sound to the Axioms: Paradigm studios, B&W 703s.

That will give you thee options to check out if you like the sound of the speaker before you order.

You really say that there as good as "B&W 703"?
I compared the B&W 703s and the Axiom M80s for an evening at a friends house. I thought that the 703s were a little better but not 3 times better which was almost the difference in price at the time.

I wasn't able to audition axiom prepurchas (I auditioned other speakers), but I took the plunge and figured worst case scenario I could return them under the 30 day clause. No need to do so, I am extremely happy with my axioms! :D

I was hoping to audition the Axioms in someone's home an hour or so from my place. Haven't been able to hook up.

I placed an order for the Axiom M80's and an EP350 sub earlier today.

If I didn't get the ridiculous deal I got on my full Def Tech setup, I would have bought Axioms. I was that convinced after hearing them. They STILL sounded better than my Def Techs, but the price of the system I wanted was more than 3x the cost of what I got the Def Techs for.

Needless to say, I didn't pay normal prices for them, but next time, Axiom may very well get my money. =)

I actually upped my order. My order had been from the Axiom Factory Outlet where the speakers are priced at a 10% discount. I had heard that you can get another 5% off when you buy 5 or more speakers. It sounded odd that you could get another discount on already discounted speakers. Don't you think?

I called Axiom and they explained to me that their shipping carrier gives them a discount for more items shipped. AND THET PASS THAT SAVINGS ON TO THE CUSTOMER???? Yes they do! Can it get better?

So now I basically have an Epic 80-350 coming at a great deal. OK so I'm way over budget. OK so I still have to explain this to my wife. OK so I still need to hear these speakers yet. (Now I get to check out the whole system for 30 days) Oh yeah! I signed up for "Bill Me Later" 6 months no interest. All I know is that if these speakers are as good as I expect I won't have to consider anything else. I'm D O N E! New 52" Sharp Aquos and a killer Home Theatre setup. Well maybe I should add on an addition to my home next.:D

So you finally made up your mind and bought the Axioms. No better place to audition your speakers than in your home and Axiom makes it very easy.

Good luck, Bill:)

I know the feeling, every time I save up for a stereo component something happens like the dog goes to the vet or the truck breaks down.

Thank you everyone. I bought B&W instead. Just because I could listen and compare on the spot.
