Well, it makes a good story, and I'm not entirely sure Lonnie was wrong. Don't forget my early childhood was in bombed out Brittain, and anti German feeling was rampant. The Germans were rightly demonized through a lot of my childhood. Not really surprising, the damage was everywhere, and people were still acutely mourning people killed in the war, and many were not combatants. Don't forget the Germans had created trouble three times in less than one hundred years before I was born.
So, yes I harbor an understandable suspicion of Germans, and the fact that Trump is half German certainly reinforces it.

I can certainly understand resentment towards former enemies - especially brutal ones like the Nazis - as it's only human. My grandfather served in the RN during the 2nd WW (he was a Newfoundlander) and survived the sinkings of HMS Latona (Stuka divebomber) and HMS Heythrop (U-boat) in the Mediterranean.

As for Trump, I'm not willing to grant him the excuse of his ethnic background for his complete lack of morality. Some of his father's misanthropic traits appear to have carried over to his son, but I don't blame the German people for that.

As for ICE, their conduct has been utterly deplorable. And, it's clear that their actions are not only condoned by their chain of command, it is being actively encouraged. The top cover they have been given granted must surely instill a mindset of impunity, which may be a contributing factor in the shooting of Renee Good.

I can't imagine thinking "I should drive away or toward a federal officer with their gun drawn and possibly aimed at me".

I know people who refer to their wife or gf as 'The War Department' when they're in trouble and if they don't see the name on the screen of their phone, we (friends) let them know who is calling.

The ones increasing tensions are the mental patients in the streets. I’m not saying ICE is going about things in the best way. But their job could be made much easier without people throwing things at them and spitting on them and blocking traffic etc.
The problem with giving a pass, is that so many of them have been here for so long and the majority are still on welfare. And more than that, there’s the problem of assimilation. Or lack thereof. Keeping the border sealed indefinitely would theoretically allow for them do eventually die off. But imo that’s an unnecessary long term drain on tax money and resources. Tax money is already wasted enough. Surely you’re not suggesting we do nothing?

Unless they had a definite violent criminal history, I would assimilate them. Round here only hispanics will do the labor roofing and concrete work. I can tell you a lot of them are really skilled.

It's that way everywhere in the US. In England, many seem to prefer hiring Polish immigrants for the same reasons- they work hard and get it done.

To be honest, it's not hard to understand why people don't want to do those jobs- hanging drywall and most landscaping can be added to the list- it's really hard work and Americans aren't active enough from childhood to adult age to handle the jobs. Have schools started to require Phys Ed? From the shape of people in this area, I would bet not.

OK, but if they were let in without vetting over the past decades, how would we know if they had a known criminal history and why do so many people have a problem with holding immigrants until their past has been discovered? The borders are controlled everywhere else, but people want the US to let everyone to scatter like mice. They wouldn't allow strangers into their homes, though.

Indeed many of them are skilled. I have friends who are Mexican that own businesses, work hard, pay taxes, and have assimilated nicely, and can speak English very well. The other group we’re talking about, have no interest in assimilation, and seem to want to make America into the same piece of shitt hell hole they left. All the while, siphoning free money for themselves and their own native shitt hole. It’s disgusting.

I think it is no coincidence that Trump is half German. There is a serious flaw that runs through the German character. This was really drilled into me by ny Geography Master Mr. Lonnie Johnson. He averaged three tirades against the Germans at least, in every class. Time is now proving him right.

My mother, a 15 year old civilian was strafed in Bad Hamburg by the allies, lost their house and she still rose above the hate that one man caused. My grandfather, her father who was a captain in the Werhrmacht, helped hide Jews, spoke against Hitler and the war and as a result was busted down to corporal ahd shipped to the Russian front which he survived. Imagine that behaviour from a German.

Sides well yeah you're on the right so I don't really get that one? Also the idea the escalation was entirely on the left. You just have to look at the far right during the first term. They were attracted to Trump's hate so again I think your history is puzzling.
