Hello fellow Adioholics

about 7 months ago cds burnt in my burner were skipping and ticking so I figured it was time for a new burner. I just got a new DVD cd burner and I burnt my first disc and the exact same problems are noted!

heres the rub it plays fine in my computer but will skip in my sony cd player, the files can be extracted without showing any errors and when viewed in adobe audition they show no signs of the distorions which can be heard when using my sony cd player. The cd cannot even be read in my boombox which plays all my other cds fine.

How can the cd play fine in my computer but not in any other player?

and its not all the tracks! this ticking noise only starts in the later tracks like from track 7 on.

this is driving me insane I burnt one disc with nero 8 and another with burrrn both show the same problems at the same time although according to my computer there isnt anything wrong with the cd.

can anyone here shed some light on this phenomena?

one possibility is that the sony player and boombox have trouble with this kind of blank CD.

have you tried another brand of media?

I read the first line of your post, and wondered to myself if you were using a Sony CD player.Then got to the second line, and I see that you are.
I also had the same problem, and thought it was the burner.
It turned out to be the laser going bad, in my Sony CD player.
It happened twice in two different players. Both players were top of Sony's line at that time.

Different CD media is the first thing to try. You also will want to try different CD players. I've seen issues with all sorts of players/media combos not working perfectly with each other, but newer gear tends to be more consistent.

yeah, it's unforunate, i've had quite a few players that were playing original CD's perfectly well, retired because they couldn't keep up with the times (new media)

The problem with my two players happened gradually, and intermittently.
At first I thought it was a scratch on the original CD; so I made a copy, it played a few times then wouldn't read.
Both CD's would play in my Integra player, and in my truck.

I'm not saying it's your problem too. Just throwing the possibility out there.
The advice from Mike and Bmxtrix sounds good, and changing media is an inexpensive test.
