I hear a lot about media bias from the extreme of both liberal and conservitive sides. This leads me to believe our media is pretty well centered.
That all depends on what you mean??
Traditional mainstream media(MSM) outlets are filled with nothing but left leaning socialist, pro-abortion, pro-illegal alien, pro-g@y marriage stories & reports. That includes network news, most magazines, most cable news, most newspapers....etc, etc. When I watch the MSM news, all I hear are DNC talking points being spilled. I earn my living in the politcal arena, so for me.... the one sided reporting is glaringly obvious. If you're saying the above MSM outlets is pretty 'centered', then I disagree because most of what they report is liberal interpretation.
On the other hand, once you include the non-traditional forms of news(blogs, AM radio, fox news), then I'd say it's pretty balanced for those who know where to find it. Note that I say..... "for those who know where to find it". Lets face it... it's still non-traditional, so the majority are still not exposed to the 'other side' of the story too.
As it stands now, the majority of americans still primarily get their news from the MSM brand of news. Granted, things are changing and alternative sources of news sources are growing stronger and beginning to get their word out, but there is still a long way to go to "EVEN THINGS OUT" so to speak.
For those who know where to find the right leaning perspectives and seek them out, then yes..... for them, it's pretty balanced because they can hear both sides of the story and decide for themselves.
For the 'masses' who still rely primarily on the old traditional forms of news, it's hardly balanced at all. The key is to listen to both, so you can decide. Whether you agree with one side or the other doesnt matter, so long as you get equal exposure from both sides is what matters. At this point in history, that still is NOT happening, but it's getting better.
