Seriously, I have no life.
It will be interesting to see if the Trump administration complies with this ruling.

>>>San Francisco . . . A federal judge has ordered half a dozen federal agencies to “immediately” reinstate probationary employees fired last month as part of the Trump administration’s effort to rapidly shrink the federal workforce, calling the effort a “sham.”

The preliminary injunction issued from the bench Thursday by US District Judge William Alsup requires the departments of Veterans Affairs, Agriculture, Defense, Energy, Interior and Treasury to rehire the employees. The judge said that he might extend the order to cover other federal agencies at a later time.<<<

As far as I know, the administration has not flat out ignored or defied any court orders, but they have played games to delay and obfuscate court proceedings.
Is an appeal on the horizon? Then another appeal SUP?

Here is a good one -
Musk Email Reaches Italian Workers. It Did Not Go Well.
Employees at the Aviano Air Base who serve American forces got a familiar demand to list their achievements. Unions say Italy “is not the Wild West like the U.S.”

These are Italian citizens and work under Italian labor laws.

It has already been appealed to the 9th Circuit.

I'm assuming the Trump administration will appeal to the Supreme Court if they lose on appeal.

The District Court issued a preliminary injunction, which is not a final decision. The case could bounce back and forth between the district court and the circuit court a few times, so it's difficult to predict if or when it will go to the Supreme Court.

Cuts for thee but not for me.
Cuts for me and for thee.

If the conservative Republican goal has been to get rid of SS, what better example than starting with Republicans? You, your parents and grandparents. I want you to feel it, but more importantly I want you to live by your principles. Short term pain for long term gain. And you'll lead by example. It won't be an issue cause you want to reduce the nanny state. I know it's my usual tiresome speel, but there's a point. Be the things you are. I'm not buying it but alas.

Heck I'll even start with my own cut, but again can't see the conservatives following through on this.

"....Emails went out to affected employees around 5 a.m., but some who hadn’t seen the messages showed up to work only to be turned away, realizing they had lost their jobs because their badges weren’t working, multiple sources told STAT. At the Food and Drug Administration’s campus in Silver Spring, Md., security guards instructed fired employees to wait in a line so they could later clean out their offices. "

This is MAHA?

"Employees laid off at the agency included those studying injuries, asthma, lead poisoning, smoking and radiation damage, as well as those that assess the health effects of extreme heat and wildfires.

But some infectious disease teams were also laid off. A group focused on improving access to vaccines among underserved communities was cut, as was a group of global health researchers who were working on preventing mother to child transmission of H.I.V.

H.I.V. prevention was a big target overall. Jonathan Mermin, director of the center for H.I.V. and sexually transmitted diseases, was placed on administrative leave. The Trump administration had been weighing moving the C.D.C.’s division of H.I.V. prevention to a different agency within the health department. But on Tuesday, teams leading H.I.V. surveillance and research within that division were laid off. It was unclear whether some of those functions would be recreated elsewhere."

If Canada was smart, they would hire many of those researchers. We had a brain drain when the Avro Arrow program was shut down and many of our top engineers went to NASA. This could be a proverbial coup if Canada could hire those researches before they get hired back or go to private industry. This type of research is not just for the public good but can drive the medical industry as well.

How's this from a trained MD (wonder why -but not licensed to practice) now Head of NIH.

In October, Jay Bhattacharya, then a health economist at Stanford University, posted on X: “If you favor government control of misinformation, you are an enemy of free speech.”

Canada is a liberal democracy, as is Europe (with Hungary as an exception).

China is a brutal dictatorship that has no problem putting minorities in concentration camps.

Money isn't everything.

. . .

It's a strong case, but Trump does not want to let Adams off the hook. Trump wants to maintain the threat of the criminal case so he can control Adams.

The DOJ is asking to have the charges dismissed without prejudice. This means that the government can file the charges again in the future if Adams doesn't comply with Trump on issues that are completely unrelated to the criminal case against Adams.

Trump will be able to coerce the mayor of New York City to do his political bidding.

This is why at least 7 prosecutors resigned rather than sign the court order.
The judge blasted the administration and dismissed the case with prejudice:

>>>In a strongly-worded opinion on Tuesday, Ho rejected the Justice Department’s core argument – that New York prosecutors were politically motivated in bringing the case and that the charges were impacting the mayor’s ability to carry out Trump’s immigration agenda.
. . .

“In light of DOJ’s rationales, dismissing the case without prejudice would create the unavoidable perception that the Mayor’s freedom depends on his ability to carry out the immigration enforcement priorities of the administration, and that he might be more beholden to the demands of the federal government than to the wishes of his own constituents,” the judge wrote Tuesday.<<< (emphasis added)

Yup, it was a shakedown that the judge rightly rejected. The original prosecutors thought they had enough evidence to get a conviction and with a normal administration the it would have get to a trial.

Boy, you brought back some old memories. I had a model kit of that aircraft. Thanks. :)
I still have an Avro Arrow model kit, unused. My father bought it but passed away before he could start it. Should make a nice retirement project.

So, it cannot be appealed? Great. What does the future hold for him? Can the state charge him?
