I see the Benq HT3560 refurbish on ebay for less than $1000. Are there any others worth looking at under $1500? If I'm going to spend close to $1500, I'd just keep any eye out for an Epson 5050bu. Thoughts?
Depends on what you're doing with the projector itself. Gaming is always best with DLP. But, for movie watching, the 5050UB remains a top projector out there.
The 3560... I personally wouldn't get it as I'm not very trusting of the .47" DLP chip. The X500i, TK710, and X3100i all use the newer .65" DLP chip, which I think has a better track record, though I've heard of some issues with the HT4550i which uses that chip. So, I'm not sure if the stuck mirrors issue is still an issue with the 1080p chips across the board or not.
Anyway, the price certainly isn't bad on the 3560, as long as your screen is 120" or smaller. It struggles with larger screens. The TK700 is also often out there as a refurb for under $1,000.
