The movie was entertaining but very long. Hoping it sets up a good sequel now that all the background story is there. :)

Totally agree. I knew nothing about the comic that it was based on. Never watched the trailer so I went in blind. I was not expecting any of what I watched. So many plot holes! Overall, I would rate it 6.5/10. It was somewhat entertaining.
That's about how I would rate it also.

Now that I we have found out what happened to the main character, how will she continue to kick a$$ like before? It seems to me like she's going to retire.

Or is there another twist in the comics regarding what will happen to her next?

I was entertained. That's all I feel I can ask for anymore these days...

A little suspension of disbelief is all it takes to have a passably good time.

Huh... that's a a very telling statement for life in our world right now. Where'd I leave the whiskey from last night?
:p

Well with the Dark Knight movies the second one, Dark Knight, is the masterpiece. The prior one, Batman Begins, is slow to set everything up for the characters etc.

Edit: Had the names mixed up. :)

I somehow made it through the 2nd act (just now), but had to turn it off. It just didn't do it for me. A lot of the decisions and actions made by both the protagonists and antagonists were just plain dumb. Only there because the plot needed it to happen.

I watched it Tuesday night and really liked it. I'll probably watch it again after I finish S2 of Hannah.

I watched it last night finally. It was okay, I didn't turn it off but it isn't something I'd buy, might do a rewatch just for fun. Interesting concept but a bit too much in a coupla ways. The guy playing Merrick I couldn't get past the image in my head of him from when he played the legless/armless thespian in The Ballad of Buster Scruggs.....

He just reminded me of PharmaBro Martin Shkreli... didn't even put him together with Buster Skruggs.

Ah, maybe that's the angle with Shkreli in the young and annoying pharma guy sense....altho he isn't nearly as funny looking as Harry Melling IMO.

ps Maybe with Melling's eyes they were more swinging Elizabeth Holmes-ish?

The action and fight choreography is pretty good. There are just some moments when it jars me out of the movie with the decisions and motivations of both the protagonists and antagonists. A lot of "wtf did they do that??"

I watched the 2003 "epic"... The Core, last night.

Yes, I threw up in my mouth a little, several times. No, I did not almost fall off of my seat. Was it "enjoyable?" Sure. Would it stand up to movies like Usual Suspects, or Seven for intrigue? NO.

Did I enjoy it?

Ya. (Not proud, but not embarrassed either.)

:D

It was entertaining...
Agreed, Don't take it too seriously and you'll see it's better than Wanted and almost as good Atomic Blonde.
So with that said, I'd give it a generous 7/10 mainly due to kick ass Miss Theron

What more do you want? :D
Yeah, I thought it was entertaining. Like most of these types of movies it wasn't flawless. I recently watched MI Fallout, you get what you expect. But I will say Tom Cruise is getting a little old for the roll. His physical movement looks more like his real age now. So his actions scenes are a little off. Which Bond movie was it that Connery played played the old spy? IMO, future MI's need to take that into consideration. Anyway, I digress...

I've been watching all kinds of stuff, probably like a lot of us who are home a lot now. I also watched Resident Evil. While mildly entertaining, I'm not sure how they like 7 of them? Maybe I'll watch the second one to see if it gets better. I further digress...

For the type of movie Old Guard was it was as expected and I liked it. I watched it on Netflix. It seems like a movie that went straight to Netflix because of the current pandemic, as opposed to a straight to dvd/netflix kind of movie, and would have done satisfactory at the movie theater. If they made a follow up I would watch it on Netflix.
