The most beautiful song.

I couldn't begin to choose just one, but certainly one of the most beautiful songs is Eva Cassidy's version of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow." Yeah, yeah, I know...that song is just too trite & cheesy to take seriously, right? Well I dare you to listen to her sing it and then say that. No matter how often I hear it it still gives me goosebumps! Btw, "Wade in the Water" & her cover of Sting's "Fields of Gold" from the same album are also amazing. Truly an incredible voice, taken from us far too soon.:(

For me, the most beautiful song is "This Woman's Work" by Kate Bush. Anytime it comes on, I have to stop everything I'm doing cos the song moves me so much. With or without the gorgeous accompanying video, I get tears rolling down my cheeks and the hair on my arms stand up on end.

cheers,

Good song...but Maxwell's version is way better to me. He shows more emotion in it. Kate Bush's is good though.

Have you heard Clapton do Over The Rainbow? Very, very nice. He uses acoustical guitars, done in a low key manner. It knocked my socks off when I heard it.

Samuel Barber's Adagio for Strings
Boy I have to second that one. Talk about something written to evoke emotion, that is it.

Something surprising was the London philharmonic adaptation of some of Jethro Tull classics. The adaptation of War Child is absolutely breath taking and bitter sweet. For a long time when I played it, there would be a roller coaster of emotion.

I don't think there's a singular "most beautiful" song.....I think songs are a bit like memories, given your emotional state at the time you hear a song such song will affect you over time, sometimes they bring nostalgia, sadness, joy, etc. The most beautiful song would be the one that pulls your emotional strings the hardest. I think I'm getting too deep for my own good,....OK all songs are good.:D
