Yamaha, have an amp that's around 15 years old and still works great. This Marantz would be an excellent upgrade.

Yahama. They have the best value and features for the money, but I can be persuaded by Marantz!

Yamaha!

Value! My RXV659 7.1 channel AV receiver (purchased new 2009 for $434!) with YPAO auto-calibrate, parametric equalizer with 5 floating frequency bands and exceptional DSP programs makes even my stereo source music (Vinyl & CD) much more enjoyable in 5.1 channel surround sound. It is a super achiever!
BTW it is similar in continuous rated and dynamic power to this $1,500 Marantz contest prize...

Reliability! My A1 Integrated Amp purchased in 1978 is still in use powering my son's Infinity speakers as is my RXV659 in my Home Theater!

To repeat verbatim post #4 from nbk13nw:

D) "Onkyo. Always liked the performance and value. Never had any issues."

I currently and happily employ a fully functioning and over value producing TX-NR757 as the AVR in our main A/V room.

This would be my first HT Receiver so I'm sure it will be my favourite. Build quality, features, value and heritage.

Yamaha - I love the build quality of the Advantage series, I love the design, and so far they've been 100% reliable for me. They also sound great with my Klipsch speakers...

Always liked Marantz receivers but not a big fan of the current 'porthole' design.

Marantz. The AV8801 is the heart of my system and the room correction is excellent.

I’ve always had Yamaha receivers. They’ve always had a lot of features & good sound at a reasonable price. Marantz has tempted me for years with their gorgeous design though....

Definitely Anthem. Why? For their ARC2 room correction. The system is pc based, so your computer does all the heavy lifting. That's the key as far as I'm concerned. AV receivers do not have this kind of processing POWER. That isn't the only reason I like Anthem receivers. Their amps wattage are very conservatively rated, and they have real slam down low, accurate midrange and airy highs for ht receivers. Quality is the name of the game here. Btw, I had their MRX-510 rated at 100 watts x 7 with my Paradigm Monitor 11v7 fronts bi-amped. Oh, so sweet sound. It's no wonder these two companies work together in tandem. It was a marriage made in heaven, for mid-priced gear. I had to sell it all for some important home repairs, but hopefully I won't be down without a system too long. Cheers everyone.
