Yamaha - lived in Japan everyone thought they were the better of the mid-level brands. Also, consistently good reviews.

b. Marantz. It used to be Pioneer Elite because of their great class D amplification, but I bought the SC-95 a few years back and the UI and HDMI 4K/HDR/HFR handling has been unacceptable. I've never had problems with Marantz and their sound quality is second to none. I'd sure love to replace that SC-95.....

As someone who has to deal with different receivers all the time, I've had the most success over the years with Denon. I am also happy with Yamaha products, but they aren't my go-to. Marantz and Denon, being sister companies really deliver similar goods with a more premium lean towards Marantz, so I use them when I am going with separates in a system or if I need a compact A/V receiver. I love their compact receivers! I wish more companies had them.

So, yeah, the first three are my big three and I respect their products very equally.

Marantz, love their new stuff and their vintage stuff. This would definitely be the basis of a great home system

Denon. Value, convenience, and familiarity. I also had a rock solid mid level Onkyo that made it 10 years. I'm not opposed to finding another favorite!

Integra, love the custom installation options and the price was right at the time. Marantz would be at least as good.

You are probably correct. I thought they went back to the late 40's. I'm getting old I guess, my memory doesn't always serve me well these days.

I see alot of people choosing denon probably on price but the marantz and denon seem so alike to me, but if I had to choose screw price. Lol marantz all day! I had to visit bestbuy and had to go through 5 receivers til i found marantz to be the one for me. So B. I choose B. Price was down 200 dollars but the quality on sound and surround was exactly what I needed. But like all audio heads...now I want more, newer setup and a more powerful receiver. Lol 11.2 channel setup and I dont know why, 7.2 doesnt seem enough anymore. Svs speakers are on my mind, especially that 2500 dollar 16inch subwoofer...(itll be mine soon) hahaha

Pioneer is good for me. It has 6 hdmi ports with 4k resolution, ARC, 1 USB port (front), 7.1 channels, internet radio, bluetooth, it also has various listening modes, such as DTS Neural:X, Neo:6 Cinema, and a phono connection for your old school record player.
