sheep you have to be joking me, if you think a stock 8-6 is fast you need to experience life a little more. fast for a corolla maybe, but definately nothing to brag about

86's are extremely weak compared to any new car out there. yes they can be fixed to be somewhat fast, but big deal, so can any other car. only good thing about them is they have good weight ratio to drift. you need to get a clue. and stop talkin like youre the expert because you spend your time reading fast and furious articles on the internet.

they are cheap,. ugly and yes, weak in comparison. i never even compared the 86 to any new cars.. they arent even in the same league.. its just funny you think its THAT fast. stock will barely even drift. all i said was they are not that cool. definately not cool enough to make it in a movie. if i had 1000 bucks and wanted to drift and wreck i might buy one, but id probobly save up another couple grand and get a 240 with an sr20det swap

??? I think you are confused. These cars have an extremely low curb weight and very solid motors that only take a little tweaking to make some very good numbers. They have a solid chassis and a good f/r weight balance that makes them very good for any kind of driving. Yes, they can be found cheap, which makes them great for building a cheap track car, but nice ones can still pull down quite a bit of cash. The fact that they are popular means there is still good aftermarket support for them too. There's a REASON why cars like this are STILL poplular....Datsun 510, BMW 2002, S13 240SX, 1.8L Miatas....
s13's are popular, i wouldnt say the rest of them are that popular for drifting.

the only reason people get 86's instead of s13's is cause they are cheaper. s13 is a much better car

I just sold my S13 recently. Great car, definitely a driver's car, but I've been working on my own cars for years and this one unfortunately was simply not easy to work on. Certain things required excessive work for a seemingly simple task and it got annoying.

The 8-6 is a solid little car, no matter what you think. You can't realistically compare it to current cars, and they really don't make any similar cars today - there are really no inexpensive RWD cars. Fun to drive factor is high with the 8-6, and that is what it is about.

Where's a Dodge Cumings owner at, show this Super duty who's boss.;) Actually I like the older 7.3L TD that Ford had but they've had too many problems with the 6.0 for me to spend 40k on a truck. Now if it was a perfect world I'd want a truck with a chevy interior, dodge drivetrain and the looks of a ford SD.
my dad actually just picked up a new cummings deisel. short bed extra cab. its a sweet truck. he was going to buy a nissan titan, but i couldnt let that happen.

OMG, thats like saying a old car, that goes for around 2500, is worse then a brand spanking new car that goes to 50 grand.

NO ****ING DUH!

Consider this. You can get a corolla GTS in good shape, and turbo the fudge out of it for less then half the price of a 350Z. Add to that it's lighter, and you will have a faster car.

Heck, buy a CRX and drop in a B16 and turbo that. 250Hp in a 1600lbs car.

You must be a bolt on boy. Can't do any real work, so you have to resort to buying new cars and bolting on kits. One of my friends whos 17 is turboing a B16 Integra motor for his CRX. He's 17! This car will be faster then anything on the roads in my area.

You're arguement is flawed. Anything newer has the potential to be better, but its more expensive. For the same money, there's better cars, and faster cars.

Have you even driven a AE86 with a 4AGE motor?

B series is Integra (Gen2 and Gen 3) - B16, B17, B18. D series is Civic :) (except CTR) B18 is better for turbo, IMO. I'm an n/a kind of guy myself. Currently own 3 DAs (Gen 2) w/B18s :D

current daily driver:

Koni Yellows, Eibachs, short shifter, Momo steering wheel, ceramic coated DC 4-2-1 header, DC cat back, Volk Racing LE-37s 16" (Forged), AEM underdrive pulleys (came on car). Will have a few more things going on in the next few weeks. FWD :(

i said they werent in the same league
i brought it up is because you said the stock 86 "pinned" you into the seat in 3 gears. if youve been in a new car you probobly would describe the 86 like that.
the car i did compare it to was the s13.

how did i know you were going to start talkin about a crx.

Aren't? Well, they're FR, which gives them a significant advantage over an FF. The CRX is lighter, that's why it's fast.

You can drag race pretty much any car you like. For drags, I'd take a RWD car any day of the week.

nice ride! 3rd gen w/ jdm front end is one of my favorite cars. thought about selling one of my vw's for one, but couldn't really justify it.
