The current crop of muscle cars

Here are 2 from my past...My first car was a '65 Mustang convertible, don't seem to have pictures of it. My 2nd, and probably my favorite, is the '70 1/2 Camaro RS in "Classic Copper", I had it for many years, bought it when I was around 17, way back in 1976.

The other is a '69 SS in "Hugger Orange", bought it probably around '79 ish. It had some old school mods like traction bars, headers, small high rise on the Holler carb and I believe it had a different cams. I miss my Camaro's. I can still feel the lines of the RS in my mind after all the years, from all the washing and waxing to get set to go cruisin". Oh, by the way, for years I have imagined a classic SS with the modern interior and and features, so I think GM owes me some coin.

CTS-V = 556 HP = 551 lb-ft = 24 mpg hwy = $58,575.

M5 = 500 HP = 383 lb-ft = 17 mpg hwy = $83,900.:eek:

CTS-V > M5.

959 was the things dreams were made of when it came out, but I think it's still illegal to drive on U.S. soil.:(

I think that Porsche is cleaner than my plates.
when you turn the leased ones in they use a paint micrometer to tell if anything has changed from the original scan:eek: One of closest freinds had a 911TT that he would swap for my acura when he needed a sedan and didnt want to drive the Yukon...Had to hold on tight to the wheel just to get into 3rd(@50mph)..Alot of fun going across Alligator Alley in under in an hour

IRRC it qualifies under the "drive and show" law now

So does that mean you're driving to Ft Myers / Marco Island, to meet up for a beer next week?:)

Dave I read that while I was waiting to get my hair cut awhile back. It's a great read! Of the new retro cars, I have to cast my vote for the Challenger first, with the Mustang and Camaro tied at second. I saw the new Camaro at the car show here in January. I just plain don't like the interior, especially the dash. While it has cues from the old "69 model, I think they would have been better off using the '67-68 interior with the current exterior. Wheels with a nice dish instead of the flat looking ones would be my preference as well. I hate flat wheels.:(

All that coming from a real GM fan. When I was looking for a newer car for my work, I wound up with a Dodge.:eek: I looked hard but kept coming back to the Charger. I like big cars, so my choices were limited. I kept trying to like the Impala, really, as I was driving an "03, but they just don't have the curb appeal of the Challenger to me. Sorry, Buck! They can't keep up with the Hemi, either. MPG is hands down in favor of the Chev, though. If I bought one, it would be just like Buck's except I would change the wheels.

I found the Charger on Fleabay. It was a one owner, in like new condition with a lot of mods/extras. I got it for a song, especially when you consider the adds: SRT8 hood, 20" wheels and tires, lowering/handling springs, custom rocker plates, paint protector, undercoating, leather treatment, Blue Star headlights and custom floor mats to list a few. It also came factory with the track and performance option as well as everything you could order on the R/T except a sunroof (if you don't include the Daytona or SRT8 editions).

Sweet lookin Charger. I'll race ya. I just spanked a Charger on Saturday. But your car's named after the coolest football team on the planet, so that automatically makes it cool. :D

Well, being a family man, and a fan of all-wheel-drive, if I were going dream sedan, I would choose the Infiniti G37x (in black)

I would also like to have a Hybrid Highlander for those camping & winter outings.

If I lived someplace without a speed limit (Germany, say), I might want a muscle car. Here in the US, I just don't see the point. My little Hyundai has no problem getting to 80 (5 mph over the fastest speed limit on the turnpike), and gets 35 mpg!

If you live out west where there nothing for miles then it's like being on a poorly paved autobahn. They actually love US muscle cars over there in Germany my friend was telling me people would pay like 100g's for a mustang. Of course he also told me that being a passenger on the autobahn is better than being a driver due to the gorgeous scenery.

I love this thread. Some beautiful pictures.
