I'm going down to my local Block Buster to see if I can find a used Bluray of this film. Is worth buying or is it just a rental?
I'd recommend renting before you buy. It's good, but unless you're into re-runs of after-the-apocalypse visions and once you know how it ends, how many times would you watch it?

I enjoyed the movie, but I didn't find it compelling. I found it difficult to suspend disbelief in some respects.

The sound effects were awesome though. Even after previously watching the movie while bored at a hotel, I was still startled by the gunshots in my home system.

I agree 100%! Denzel is a great actor-one that realy makes his roles believable. It takes lots of talent to do just that imho.

Cheers,

Phil

I thought he was really good at portraying a guy who was short on words and very long on some purpose that we didn't understand. A lot seemed to be going on under his stony surface. I've also been told that he must have studied or been instructed on how blind people make small body movements to locate sounds.

Denzel is no doubt a well seasoned actor. There are many others out there such as Samual L. Jackson, John Malkovich, Kevin Spacey, Robert DeNeiro, Anthony Hopkins, Gary Oldman, and etc. All do an awesome job of making their roles so real. There are many others, of course, just wanted to mention a few.

Cheers,

Phil
