Watched it the other day. Not bad, even a bit better than I expected. It is slow, documentary-ish, but well acted, good cinematography and quite interesting. NOT an action movie. Video quality and audio quality are good, but as I said, not an action flick so not exactly demo material. Worth a rental if you like the wild west.

This title had massive issues on HD-DVD, at least before my 4.0 FW. (Haven't tried since). Also, pretty poor PQ. Good to hear that the BD is alright.

j, have you yet checked out How The West Was Won? Awesome. Pale Rider has very impressive PQ as well. Some of the best black detail I think I've seen, but don't quote me on that. Been a while.

I just watched it. I'm confused because of my having watched Young Guns but the movie was pretty good ... oh shoot, that's Billy the Kid. Well at least I have it straight now.

I noticed that it was produced by Brad Pit and wonder if that maybe held it back from being awesome. I always thought Casey Affleck and Sam Rockwell did good work as actors. I agree with John about it being slow and it's kind of hard to keep track of the names due to the documentary style of this thing. Maybe it's just me. Still I am glad I saw it and my girl enjoyed it as well.
