Got this one for Christmas. Worst movie I have ever seen. How do these movies ever get the funding to be made?

Haha, I didn't think it was /that/ bad.

I just felt like by the time I started to care it was over. Like, a Bourne movie could do this whole movie in the opening sequence hahaha. I think the silence of this movie is what brought the tension, but...well...tension is better when you care.

I love artsy films and techniques, but nearly every scene was a shallow depth of field with a rack focus (one person in focus with everything else blurred, then the focus changes to something or someone else and the rest blurs). I found it overused in this movie - I guess since the director was/is a photographer. And don't get me wrong, I love a beautifully lit cafe scene with shallow depth of field. On the upside, lots of the lighting was really nice and there were some very beautiful scenes.

The Italian girl has a great pair though, tell you that much.

Can a movie be any less engaging? Watched it last night and kept falling asleep and I wasn't even tired. Don't know how it got a 65 on Rotten Tomatoes.

Well, I didn't love or hate it. I guess my main gripe with it was that I didn't take anything away from it. I learned nothing, I was barely made to care about the characters until near the end. I wonder how many lines there even were in the movie. Clooney kind of does the washed up spy thing again, which we've seen before, only this time its in Italy. The whole movie just kind of depends on him, and, people taking interest in someone who barely speaks is a bit of a stretch. But, I mean, how many lines did they even give him? There wasn't a whole lot for Clooney to work with.

I mean, I kind of took the whole thing to be playing on tension of silence.. the pain of waiting.... and the 'space inbetween' or whatever. But, um, yeah....how 'bout those boobs?

-First of all it was too silent... you could hear the noise floor in my room... PS3 fan, J2500 fan, fridge in background, freezer in background, furnace. It was kind of annoying as this never happens.

-Second the character exposition was just brutal.

-Third the screenplay was contrived and laughable.

-Fourth the story was both non-existant and predictable.

-Fifth those gunshots sounded cool and the hooker boobies were nice. Great flick.

That was intentional. They wanted it to be quiet. It was a 'tension building' technique, I guess. Our noise floor is our issue. My room is pretty quiet, but I don't have a fridge and my ducts I ran extra large to keep the noise floor lower (lower air velocity when the A/C is running). I could hear some fan noise from my PS3 also at times, but, hey, that's because I was too cheap/poor to put my gear in another room.

Yep, some movies have that effect on people I saw it, didn't love it, didn't hate it. Certainly not an action film I am used to. It's a middle of the road movie for me, and not a keeper.

I learned a lot about myself from that movie and had an opportunity to view an event that I had never once in my life contemplated. Like who knew that I would be so skeeved out by the idea of going down on a hooker? As he was headed south in my head I heard this ...
