I saw that this morning. Kind of shocking actually. I wonder what this means for Sony going forward. I still love my Sony 950h. Best TV I ever had.

The new TCL 65QM8K we just bought is no slouch and Rtings had it rated (fairly narrowly) over the Bravia 7 in many categories. Only time will tell the story of whether this works out for Sony, but the only real downside I see is the Sinophobes pitching a fit over this.

The old 950s were good TVs, though my model suffered from the Dolby Vision bug.

That's tough. My first 950 had a bad panel. We noticed it on the first movie we watched. Called BB, and they came the next day with a new one. Swapped it out, and it's been perfect ever since, knock on wood.

Correction, mine was a 900F, not a 950. *facepalm

I got confused because our older Sony was an 850C.

It wouldn't have been a problem if the fault in my panel manifested early: It didn't. *shrugs It was still a good TV except for DV content being dark or turning a weird green hue randomly.

Oh, ok. Yeah thier model numbers can be very confusing. The 950h is steller, even still today, I really like that TV

Yes, TCL 2024 model 4K, QM751G, mini LED, which we have, had been compared to other Mfg's "OLED's." That is how good TCL is, "w/o" breaking the bank. I understand their 2025 model year, QM7K, mini LED, on sale, is very good, too.

TCL continues to be the Up and Coming TV quality PQ producer. We also have 2 of their 2022 model QLED, with great PQ in its own Class.

Have the QM751G also. Great panel at the price. Space is most likely too competitive for the margins that Sony is wanting to maintain.

H… that would be 2020? At least 4 good years left in that! ;)

Our 850c is retired because it was getting buggy AF with streaming. Shows or Apps wouldn’t buffer, if they loaded at all. Panel still looked good… but clearly the wireless tech hit its lifespan.

This. Sony is pretty much at a premium across the board. Seems like as they narrowed their offerings back with the switch from 800/850/900/950 models to 80/90/93, and then again to 7/8/9, the buy-in got steeper. Add the tariffs to that and…

Yes, 2020 . I am hoping to get few more years out of it. :) Beautiful picture for movies and sports. I just use it as a monitor really, streaming is done using roku ultra connected to AVR. I turned all things google off, as soon as I got ,lol. I'm lucky in that the Cox modem/router sits right behind the entertainment center, so everything is hard wired.
