To All,

I have really enjoyed all the input even though it has now opened Pandora's box of options with great ideas and products to research (Which is a good thing). This forum is truly the best service for audio knowledge that i have found on the web, and it is because of the great expert members like yourselves that make it all possible. Thanks again for all the help.

Sincerely,

Johnny

Thats not a joke when he called it the best driver in the world. That truely is a absolute beast of a driver! Just ask warpdrv (member here) he is running 8 of the TC 5400 Ultra 15" & lovin life!! :)
MisPrint - 6 x 18" LMS's.... in main room - 4000w to each.

1 x 18" LMS is small room.... 2500w

And Yes I am still loving them immensely...

They have had some QC issues as of late. Mounting holes between the basket and magnet not matching up like mine.

I had absolutely no problems with the mounting holes on any of my drivers... But I have heard a few that did have those issues...

If I was interested in picking one up from Parts Express, I would ask them to check that the driver holes line up before shipping, as you have heard there were problems with alignment. Also discuss that they pay return shipping on the motor or top if they don't. I certainly don't think that is an unreasonable request.

IMO - they are worth the money, if SQ and accuracy is of the utmost importance. There are other drivers out there but I'm not sure their build quality is up to the top as the LMS's...

I have run the gammut of many different drivers, and finally landed on the LMS, and they will be with me for many years to come... I wouldn't trade them for anything.

BTW.... I wouldn't go ported with these drivers....

You can get the most output with them in a PR design...
2 x 18" passive radiators, and a single 18" LMS... 2500-3000w amp should do nicely....

Neither, and both.

The answer, is an LMS 5400 in a Tapped Horn:

Here a guy did a Maelstrom Tapped Horn.. i think this is his bedroom:

Personally, maybe it's just my lack of experience here, but i find it hard to believe a single LMS-5400 will outperform a pair of Mach V Pi-18s dollar for dollar.
NASCAR, football, pumping iron, and ridiculously deep bass at high SPLs. Can I get a WHOOOOOOOO!

Thanks for the break down never heard or seen of that technique until now sweet always learning.
PRs aren't a bad idea, but do realize that they do add most cost than a vent.

You have to weigh the pros/cons, by modelling the hell out of it :D

I've been thinking about this and I'd just get the LMS Ultras as many as the budget allows and seal them all. :D could you imagine 8 LMS drivers in room.

Though the P-R porting method could be great too.

notnyt knows what that's like:
For sure he has a great setup and has shown those on video pushing max limits, but I'll guarantee that when he's only running them even 10db's hot, they are all barely working at all... He def went to excess and its a super awesome cool looking HT build... No question, very sexy - but truly overkill... :) Nothing wrong with that IMO.

My room is far larger then his, being open to everywhere and I have 2 less drivers, mine are limping along most of the time....
