Posting this here too:

Just wanted everyone to know that my experience with Nathan so far has been second to none. Over 80 emails sent back and forth and an extreme desire to stick to the design I wanted has made this the best purchasing experience I've had so far. It was not inexpensive, but for the quality, uniqueness and beauty of what I've seen so far, I am extremely impressed and excited to hear my subs!

The first 3 pics on this page are what is coming to me in hopefully a couple of weeks!!

Thanks so far Nathan!

after you get the subs, you're really gonna have to not waste them on B&W speakers ;) :D

We are all aware that your not a fan of B&W speakers but why be negative toward Pannther when hes obviously excited about his new subs?

Stoked to see your new beauties are comin soon!! Your music/movie experience is going to be on such a higher level, your going to cr@p your pants! LOL!!!

Congradulaions on a great choice...make that TWO great choices!! Remember to let them break-in. What you hear when you first hook them up is not as good as they will be a few weeks later!! Make sure you place them correctly. Dont just put them where they "look good" (unless thats where they end up sounding good there).

Once setup, Pics Pics Pics & your thoughts on them. We feed off that :)

Welcome to excellent bass!!!

Well, almost 6 months later and still no subs.

Nathan at Funk Audio has been awesome so far, but there are many setbacks.

I am very excited about these subs, but am concerned with the ability of the one amp to power both 12 inch drivers. I like the idea of having an amp on each sub as well.

Wondering if this option really will outperform both SVS SB13-PLUS or Rythmik F12SEs.

I think getting REL R-505s used is a neat idea as well.

Nathan is an awesome guy at FA, just we have been having bad luck.

So many options out there.

OMG!!!! I cannot believe that you dont have your sub/s yet!!

Ive heard great things about FunkAudio as far as performance but have have heard iffy things about their reliabilty. If you dont have the subs because of reasons on FA's side then 6months is unexceptable. Im hoping its partly if not all reasons on your end that is postponing the subs. I understand that custom anything takes time but wow this comes to a shock to me.

I remember Pannther you & I going back & forth about sub options. That seems so long ago. Since we last corresponded, ive sold my dual P12 subs, bought a VTf-15H & then later went back to HSU to buy an MBM-12. It just seems that had you chosen SVS, HSU or even Rythmik (with their delays) you'd be all set & have been enjoying great bass for over 5 months. Im not saying you made a bad choice, because once you DO get them im sure you'll love them, but i dont think i could wait that long. You have som patience brother!!

Well thanks for keeping us informed & continue to do so!

Do you mind me asking what types of things have happened to delay this process?

Thanks for the concern.

Let me say first and clearly that it has nothing to do with Funk Audio.

We just fell into bad luck with DHL who damaged the products and took forever correcting it.

Nathan at Funk Audio has been more than helpful in this process. His desire to ensure the customer is satisfied as well as his patience is second to none.

If anything, I am very happy to have him represent Canada as a company and I see great things from him in the future. I absolutely recommend him 110% to anyone wanting a meticulously crafted product using the best drivers/amps that can be found.

At this point, I am just looking at options and have it narrowed down to continuing with Funk Audio (there are a couple of details we are both waiting for), SVS SB12NSD/SVS 13-PLUS, Rythmik F12SE or a used REL R-505.

I want a musical tight sub and so am focusing on sealed. Only those options are what I am interested in.

If anyone has any input, it would greatly be appreciated.

Again, if Nathan reads this, thanks so much for everything.. if the details are ironed out, then awesome... if not.. again Funk Audio is my first choice and stop for future purchases.

Thanks to those who have some input.

That's unfortunate, because it's not necessarily true, as shown in many studies, that sealed has any advantages over vented once placed into a room.

If you want tight musical bass, rather than believing what people tell you (because people's perceptions are have 100s of sources of error in a subwoofer comparision) why not consider what people who spent lifetimes analyzing this stuff under controlled test conditions have observed:

Whoa...sorry to hear about that. Just for the record I had some issues with DHL...although my sub wasn't damaged they messed up on a few levels. I am aware he has an account with them but maybe he should consider a more depenable carrier for this precious cargo because in my dealing with them(DHL)at the time...I felt they were a bunch of morons...:(

Regards, Bill...

Having worked at Purolator one summer, I'm not sure other options are much better. We used to stand in a truck, and then when things come on, we'd just chuck them. And they told us we were better than UPS and Fedex on those accounts

I’ll throw my two cents in here – whenever musical subs are mentioned – Vandersteen Wq always comes to mind.

THe problem was, it was virtually impossible to keep up with the pace. Things come in 2X as fast as you send them off. The result is workers rushing to keep up. Most of the time it wasn't intentional to try to break people's things, but the time constraints saw lots of people making clumsy mistakes. I remember a buddy I met at Purolator, around when I quit, was shifted over to being a delivery driver. I ran into him 3 months later by chance and he told me he got fired for not being fast enough, even though my experience was he was no slacker.

Moral of the story - you want something shipped, expect the worst :(

Yeah, they left $3000 of speaker equipment outside of the house without anyone home! They could have been stolen, it could have rained etc.

Complete morons.. took over a month for them to get someone to come and inspect it!

Unfortunately, Nathan is powerless in these scenarios. He did the best he could and that says a lot about him and his company. Very impressed.

I am completely lost with subs now lol. I can't hear any of them around me as I'm in Ottawa. Only a REL, Totem, B&W store.

I lean towards Rythmik because they are musical. But should probably just going to buy a used REL? SVS has good output but is not musical? craziness!

Again, Funk Audio is not out yet.... just need some details figured out.

I do think that was the best option with the TC Sounds driver... but REL R-505 must be good with all the reviews??!?!?!:eek:

Thanks again guys.

So they delivered your subs damaged & just plopped them down at your front door without anyone signing for them?

Cant you grt your $3000 from them & buy 2 new ones from Funk?

Ive never heard that SVS isnt musical. They have a great rep as far as im concerned, along with HSU. Dual ULS-15s would be great with their XBL^2 motors. RELs will sound great but are over priced IMO. I love B&W speakers but am not a fan of their subs. Also overpriced per performance. But id rather have a REL over a B&W sub TBH.

Well im glad to hear that Funk has been great! I really hope for your sake that everything gets cleared up soon for you!

Unless space is an issue i wouldnt go sealed. But if youve done your research, have listened & compared good sealed & ported designs & still decide on sealed then i can totally respect that choice!!!

Myth. If anything being able to scale to the demands of the recording without distortion is the number one biggest correlation to musical in the first place.

If you pay about $4-500.

Thanks guys.

Ok, what would be the best bang for your buck, that isn't too big and is musical? lol

I'm looking preferably $2500 max shipped to Canada ;)

Although, again.. hopefully things work out with Funk Audio. :)

Thanks again.

Looks sweet. Big issue is that it has to be gloss black.

Both the sealed and ported look quite nice.

Never heard of them though.?
