I’m looking to upgrade my entry level Klipsch R12SW to a great sub in the sub $1000 range. All of my research points me to the SVS PB 1000 Pro. Great reviews, great specs and currently $799. Am I looking in the right direction? Are there any clearly better options out there that I should consider? This novice, budding audiophile thanks you in advance!

I am not sure I woudl go so far as to say that it is better performing. The Speedwoofer 12S has more output below 25Hz, and the PB-1000 Pro has more output above 25Hz. The 12s is a deeper digging sub but the PB-1000 Pro is a punchier sub. Some people will be happier with the former, some people will be happier with the latter.

That is such good advice. It is marketers again. MY F3 is lower than your F3. This nonsense has caused the use of extended bass alignments and that on the whole is a BAD thing. The reason is that it gives you less output above F3 as the fall off starts higher. In addition the ass quality is poorer.

I very, very seldom design a sub using an extended bass alignment. That is not the way to go. Can I just say one more time that I have a visceral dislike of marketers.

Thank you. I’m here for the great advice. I have never heard of the Speedwoofer 12S. I will certainly research it. The following is a 25 minute later addendum. I’ve read 5 reviews pertaining to the SW12S. The authors of the reviews are EXTREMELY impressed with the performance of this product. From what I’ve read, this sub is certainly on par with the SVS PB1000 Pro. Either of these products would be a wise choice for an “Enthusiast” like myself. I thank you.

I have a pair of SVS SB 1000 Pros in my 2.2 system And they sound excellent. The app makes it very easy to control the sub from my iPad or iPhone including the volume. You get 45 days after buying to try and return for free if you’re not satisfied. SVS also has excellent customer service before and even after the sale. You can call and talk to someone if you have issues. I also have the RSL Speedwoofer 10E in another system. It’s a step down but it’s also 1/2 the price of the SVS. If you’re interested in the SVS I suggest you contact them. They have a lot of sub options. Tell them about your setup and what you’re looking for and decide on the best Option for you.

Thank you. The SB1000 Pro and PB1000 Pro are both excellent options and hard to beat in the sub $800 category. I prefer the dual ported PB1000 though the SB1000 remains a close second. I’m Amazon price watching both on camelcamelcamel.com at $600 and $500 respectively. When one or the other reaches that point, I won’t be able to resist.

The Hsu Research VT-2 mk5 and Monoprice Monolith M-12 certainly deserve consideration in this segment. They are at least as powerful as the PB-1000 Pro or RSL Speedwoofer 12S if not moreso.
Wow! That VT-2 mk5 is a BEAST! I‘m blown away by the specs, reviews, as well as the warranty. I would agree with you. I ranks right up there with the PB10O0 Pro and on top I that, it’s $100 cheaper! Me likey! Your recommendation now occupies Pole Position! Thank you Sir! I am loving this forum!
