I hate having to do this as my first post, but was wondering if anyone could help me out. I have a harman/kardon AVR-645 along with the PB10. Lately I have noticed that my sub sometimes does not even turn itself on. I can even goto the speaker menu and do a tone on the sub and it is silent. I have found out however that if I un-plug the coax to the sub (causing it to pop) it will work perfectly fine after that initial loud pop. It well then stop working after being silent for a few minutes and not come back until I do that again or sometimes a really loud boom will make it kick in. I was wondering if there is an issue with it auto-sensing the signal? I can even manually put the sub on and give it a signal and it won't do anything until I unplug and replug the cable back in.

auto-on needs a strong enough signal to be activated. One thing you can do to boost the incoming signal without increasing the volume on everything is to use a RCA Y-splitter and connect it to both the left and right RCA inputs. Also, if your AVR has some bass management settings, look at what you can do to boost the sub-out signal, and then correct the sub volume to appropriate levels.

I have sub +10 on my receiver and the sub still wont kick on unless I ground out the cable (pulling it out then back in). I even set the sub manually to on and its got a green light but wont out put anything unless I make it pop loudly. I used to leave my sub at 0 on my receiver and it always kicked in no problems.

Well while writing this reply, I pulled up a bass test audio file and halfway through the sub kicked in, but then towards the end (after 2 minutes or so, while doing 40Hz and below frequencies it stopped) could that be a loose wire or something inside shaking itself? or maybe self-protect? it sounded awesome while working but then it just cut out...

How old is your PB10 ? I would call SVS and see what they suggest; they have great customer support? Have you tried using another cable to the sub ?

Good luck!

Have you changed anything in your setup? For example, did you change the crossover frequency on the subwoofer, or change the bass management settings in your receiver?

I agree that contacting SVS is a great way to go. They've always been very responsive to my e-mails, including on weekends.
