15K? what engine does this thing have? V6? power windows? magwheels?

btw, how much did the DD15 set you back? did you compare that DD with other series of velodynes? (e.g. CHT) what made you decide on a DD?

For those in the Washington DC area, last time I went into the Myer-Emco store in Bethesda, they had a Velodyne 1812 Overture in their large listening room. Beastly is an understatement.

Really, a gorgeous sub - downright scary how much it costs, but with Velodyne behind the design, it is simply astounding. I just need the theater big enough where two of those are in order. :)

Yes the 1812 is the one with 2 class D transformerless 1250Wrms amps, thats 2500Wrms or 6000W dynamic  The DD range uses one of these amps.

The DD15 retails here in Australia for AU$5,399, I paid AU$4,200 at an authorised dealer. I've been watching the DD since they were announced and have read almost everything on the net about them, the room eq and software upgradeability apealed to me. I contemplated two paradigm pw2200's, I listened to a few others, but non had the depth, snap and authority of the DD15. This thing goes loud, low and accurate, it still amazes me. It will pressurise your room and pound your walls into submission :D

See the probs I've had with keeping the sound this thing generates confined to my house in this thread http://forums.audioholics.com/forums/showthread.php?t=13599
I need a house with an underground room now

cheers :)

that theater is a room that will fit 2 :)

Seriously though, I don't think there is a subwoofer overkill. Turn it down. Theres nothing better then having loads of headroom, especially in the bass department. As long as the speakers and subs are balanced, bring em on.

It is too bad, that the typical outlet is only capable of 1,650 - 1,800 watts of power. :) One would need a dedicated 25A circuit for that beast to perform at what it is capable of.

It uses the same plug as a dryer, and stove(20amp?). Dryer, or sub......SUB:)

This would be fine here on Australia's 240Volt system. The common 15Amp outlet is good for 3750W.

These transformer-less Class D amps are better than 95% efficient, and having the caps in them they should have enough stored power to supply whats needed. They do state in the DD series brochure that "It is limited only by the power it can draw from a wall outlet!", which is why they have protection against line voltage drop. So they are supplying you with amps that give you the most grunt you can get in your house.

Eitherway if you spent that much on a beast like the 1812 why wouldnt you spend a couple more bucks to be able to feed the beast all it can eat, I know I would.

cheers:)
