Subwoofer Cables Monster vs Monoprice. No Haters Please.

seems like a decent cable. Maybe better construction that what I got from Monoprice. Will it be better in sound quality??? eh ... it;s funny I spent 5 times more of my time constructing my HT than the time I spent watching movies. Sad

You're saying that Rythmik says to use that Mediabridge cable? Brian (Rythmik) is an Electronic and Acoustic Engineer out of USC. I would absolutely trust his opinion on anything HT related and in particular Subwoofer related. (I have visited Brian/Rythmik in person and bought a F15HP).

I've been happy with the quality of the Mediabridge stuff.

Just 1 item to mention, from what I've seen on Mediabridge, their RCAs terminals tend to be a little longer/bulkier than average, so if you don't have plenty of room between the sub amp and the wall, it could be a problem. Nothing a couple of 90 degree RCA terminals won't fix.

This would be cheaper, and is CL2 rated for in wall.

my experience with the monoprice cable, was that it was a bit more sensitive to ground issues.

BJC is quality at a value oriented price.

Monster is probably only slightly better than monoprice in quality at an exorbitant price.

I've had a few Monoprice cables that were slightly too small on the RCAs. They would work fine on some gear, but not others. I ended up breaking an RCA on one of the Monoprice cables. But otherwise, I agree that Monoprice is a good deal for reasonably good quality.

To be fair, I have had some BJCs that seemed a little small for some gear too (but not quite as drastic as the MP cables).

I purchased some Blue Jeans speaker wire a while back, Belden 5000UE 12 AWG Speaker Cable (16 ft) with the locking bananas at both ends. Really like the locking bananas, easy to connect and very secure. Seems like quality built wire, and they sound good to me. I Also purchased the LC-1 analog cable for my subwoofer. It replaced a 10 year old monster cable. Looking at the two cables side by side the Blue Jeans cable is clearly better constructed, heavier, higher quality termination, etc. The monster terminated ends had become loose and it was just a flimsy cable compared the BJ . (Don't remember how much I paid for the monster cable) Again, no complaints with the sound of the sub cable either. Both BJ products seemed reasonable in price. And no BS from the person I spoke with at BJ. Just my 2cents..

I used to use Monoprice subwoofer cable 15 feet.... sound was nice I guess. Then, changed to Mediabridge 8 feet cable, ..... volume kept the same and now bass feels a bit lighter. It's as if Monoprice cable gave more bass.

I like Monoprice but I think their cables are too stiff-as in not flexible-really like the Tartan sub cables for the price.

right, i have the same complaint. once plugged in, requires "more than normal" effort to unplug again.

I had a Monster subwoofer cable for years. Did the job, but eventually after a few times of plugging and unplugging it the RCA connection got way too loose and would fall out of the subwoofer input on my Emotiva sub. I replaced it with a Blue Jeans subwoofer cable that's a tighter fit and at least the same build quality for less money. No falling out.

I took an 20ft component cable consist of 3 RG-59 wires, split one of wires off and now it's my sub cable. If I had say 100ft run, I would probably need to use a better insulated RG-6, but for short runs ANY RG-59 cable is fine. BJC would probably look nicer and have better constructed and finished plugs but that's it

No hate for Monster cable here (per se - I hate their tactics) - I have some MC cables which I got for free and they are usable for some cases.
Thou I prefer Hosa - they just look nicer to me and have better shielding
